ApsaraDB for MongoDB:Update the minor version of an instance

Last Updated:Jul 17, 2026

Update your ApsaraDB for MongoDB instance to the latest minor version to access new features and improvements.

Prerequisites

  • The instance is a replica set or sharded cluster instance.

  • The instance is not running the latest minor version. If your instance is already on the latest version, the Update Minor Version button is not displayed in the console.

Usage notes

  • You cannot downgrade the minor version after an update.

  • A minor version update restarts the instance and causes a connection interruption of up to 30 seconds. Perform this operation during off-peak hours, or ensure your application supports automatic reconnection.

  • The system may automatically update the minor version during the following operations if your instance is not already on the latest version.

    Actions

    Description

Upgrade the major version of an instance

Both cloud disk edition and local disk edition instances are updated to the latest minor version.

Restart an instance or its components

Both cloud disk edition and local disk edition instances are updated to the latest minor version.

    Important

Restarting a node does not update the minor version.

    Migrate data

If the migration target is a new instance, the new instance runs the latest minor version by default.

Change the configurations of an instance

Only local disk edition instances are updated to the latest minor version.

    Important

Changing only the storage capacity does not trigger a minor version update.

Restore backup data to a new instance by point in time

The restored new instance runs the latest minor version by default.

Restore one or more ApsaraDB for MongoDB databases

The restored new instance runs the latest minor version by default.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Replica Set Instances or Sharded Cluster Instances page. In the top navigation bar, select a resource group and a region. Then, click the ID of the target instance.

  2. In the Specification Information section, click Update Minor Version.

    Note
    • If the instance is already running the latest minor version, the Update Minor Version button is not displayed.

    • The update applies the latest available minor version. You cannot specify a target version.

  3. In the Update Minor Version dialog box, review the release notes.

    • To upgrade, click Confirm.

    • To cancel, click Cancel.

The update is complete when the instance status changes from Upgrading Minor Version to Running.
