Create automatic marketing campaigns from scratch or from a template, using components for triggers, marketing touches, process controls, and data pushes.

Component types

Automatic marketing campaigns use components to control how users enter, receive messages, get data pushed, and flow through the campaign.

Send greeting cards and invitations via SMS.

Email

Sends emails through the Alibaba Cloud email platform.

Send promotional and notification emails to overseas users.

Sends text, image, image-text, audio, video messages, or mini programs through WeChat official accounts.

Push promotional messages and notifications via WeChat official account.

Template Message

Sends template messages through WeChat official accounts with customizable keyword replacements.

In a WeChat message about an offline event, the address keyword is dynamically replaced based on the user's city.

APP PUSH

Sends push notifications through the Umeng U-Push platform.

Push promotional and notification messages to mobile devices.

Tag

Tags users who enter this component with specified labels.

Note

To use the Tag component, you must purchase a Tablestore instance and activate this feature. Contact your Alibaba Cloud sales manager.

Tag a user as "membership level-VIP".

Generate Audience

Saves users who enter this component as an audience.

  • After an Event Judgment component, saves users who performed or did not perform a specified event as an audience.

  • After a Result Judgment component, filters users by sending or receipt results and saves them as an audience.

Process control

Wait Until

Pauses the campaign until a specified time or for a set duration.

Wait until 12:00, wait until 18:00 after 7 days, or wait for 1 hour.

AB Test

Compares the effectiveness of different marketing strategies through controlled testing.

Split the audience into two 50% groups and send different promotional SMS messages to compare which drives higher sales.

Random Grouping

Randomly splits users into multiple groups at specified ratios for different follow-up actions.

Randomly assign 20%, 30%, and 50% of users to receive different coupons.

End

Marks the end of a campaign branch. No further components can follow.

Judgment condition

Tag Judgment

Filters users based on tag conditions and routes them to different follow-up actions. Supports multiple groups with different tag criteria.

Note

If the first component is a Behavior Event, using Tag Judgment requires a Tablestore instance. Contact your Alibaba Cloud sales manager to activate this feature.

From the incoming audience, select females in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen as Group 1, and males in the same cities as Group 2.

Event Judgement

Filters users who performed or did not perform a specified behavior event within a set time period.

If a user does not register the app within 1 day, send a follow-up SMS.

Attribute Judgment

Filters users by event properties from a preceding Behavior Event component. Supports multiple groups with different criteria.

Users who followed the official account perform different follow-up actions based on the follow source.

Result Judgment

Filters users by send or receipt results of the preceding marketing or data push component. Supports multiple groups with different criteria.

One hour after sending WeChat messages, send SMS to users who failed and continue WeChat messages to users who succeeded.

Audience Judgment

Determines priority when multiple target audiences overlap, preventing duplicate outreach to the same user.

Audience A and Audience B have different strategies. Overlapping users follow Audience A's strategy.

Data push

Webhook

Connects to an external system or third-party service (such as a CRM) via webhook to trigger message delivery.

The user name issued by your CRM for Quick Audience.

Push Kafka

Push the user ID to Kafka or open source Kafka.

Create a custom campaign

Procedure

  1. Go to Workspace > Automatic Marketing to open the campaign list. image

  2. In the upper-right corner, click New Campaign > Custom creation.

  3. In the dialog box, enter a campaign name, select the associated child campaign, start time, end time, and Grouping, then click OK.

    • A child campaign links to a sub-campaign in a Marketing Campaign. In the drop-down list, click a primary campaign on the left to display its sub-campaigns on the right. Select individual sub-campaigns, or select the primary campaign to associate all. image

    • If you do not set start and end times, the campaign starts immediately after publishing.

  4. Configure the campaign flow on the canvas page.

  5. To modify the campaign name, associated sub-campaigns, or start/end time, click the xg icon in the upper-left corner.

  6. To save without executing, click Save Draft. The campaign appears in Draft state. Click Edit to continue configuration.

    Clicking the w icon in the upper-left corner returns to the list without saving.

  7. After configuring the flow, click Publish. If no start time is set or the start time has passed, the campaign starts immediately. Otherwise, it waits until the specified start time.

    Note

    Each workspace supports a maximum of 100 concurrent campaigns. If 100 campaigns are running, you must wait for one to finish or manually stop it before publishing a new campaign.

Create a campaign from a template

Quick Audience provides strategy templates with predefined flows and recommended component configurations for common marketing scenarios.

Available templates are listed in What Campaign Templates Does Quick Audience Provide?

Procedure

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Workspace> Automatic Marketing. image

  2. In the upper-right corner, click New Campaign > New Campaign from Template.

  3. In the dialog box that appears, select a policy template and click Use.

  4. In the dialog box that appears, enter a name for the campaign, specify Associated Sub-campaign, Start Time, End Time, and Grouping, and then click OK.

    If you do not set start and end times, the campaign starts immediately after publishing. image

  5. The canvas opens with the template's predefined flow. The following example uses the "First Purchase Member Guided Re-purchase" template. 26

  6. A template details window in the lower-right corner lists the key components to configure. Click a component name to highlight it on the canvas and view configuration prompts.

    Note
    • You can also configure components based on your business requirements.

    • Click 15 in the upper-right corner of the template details window to collapse it. Click 21 to expand it again.

    • If you click Don't Show Again, the template details are permanently hidden.

      1. Click View Rules in the prompt. A window displays the recommended audience filtering rules. 235

      2. Click Create audience to open the audience filtering page, pre-configured with the recommended rules. Enter an audience name and adjust settings as needed. Audience Filtering Documentation.

        Note

        Rules are auto-configured only when the required data table structure and model are already set up.

      3. After the audience is generated, select the audience for the Target Audience Component.

    • The following figure shows the prompt for the Marketing Reach component. 48

      1. Click View Content in the prompt. A window displays the recommended marketing message. Click 124 to copy the content. 32

      2. Click Create Template to create an SMS template. Paste the copied content. Create SMS Templates.

      3. After you create an SMS template and the template is approved, select the template for the Text SMS Components.

  7. Configure remaining components or adjust the flow as needed. Ensure all components are connected by solid lines instead of dashed lines.

    The remaining steps are the same as creating a custom campaign. Follow steps 4 to 7 in Create Custom Automatic Marketing Campaign.

Canvas Layout

The canvas has the following areas:

  • Left panel: available components.

  • Upper-right corner: global action buttons. 14

    From left to right:

    • Add End: adds an End component to every branch. Each branch must end with an End component before publishing.

    • Undo: reverts the last operation. Supports consecutive undos.

    • Redo: reapplies the last undone operation. Supports consecutive redos.

    • Fit to Screen: scales the flow to fit within the visible canvas area.

    • Zoom in

    • Current zoom percentage

    • Zoom out

  • The remaining area is the flow editing canvas.

Canvas Actions

Add a component

  • If no component exists, first add a trigger component at the starting position. 346

  • After a trigger component exists, add components at the end of a branch or insert between two components. 15

Three ways to add a component:

  1. To add a component, use one of these methods:

Clicking a component opens a configuration panel on the right. Target Audience.

An unconfigured component shows a red dot in its upper-right corner, and connects to the preceding component with a dashed line.

After the component is configured, the red dot remains in the upper-right corner, and the connection changes to a solid line.

Add a connection

Manually add connections in two scenarios:

  • A component needs more than one subsequent branch.

    Example: send both SMS and WeChat messages to the same audience simultaneously. 26

  • A component needs to reuse an existing branch from another component.

    Example: after sending SMS and WeChat to different groups, route both to the same result judgment branch. 24637

To add a connection:

  • Add a new branch (not applicable to the last component):

    Hover over the dot on the right edge of a component. Click or drag the plus icon to create a new connection. 232323

  • Connect to an existing branch:

    Hover over the empty connection on the right side of a component. The line highlights. Drag the dot toward the target branch until it also highlights, then release.

Copy and paste components

Copy a single component or a component with its entire subsequent branch.

  • Copy a single component:

    Supports pasting into a branch or at the end of a branch.

    Hover over a component to reveal three icons. Click Copy, then hover over the target position and click Click to Paste.

    The pasted component inherits the original configuration. Modify as needed.

  • Copy a component and its subsequent branch:

    Supports pasting at the end of a branch.

    Hover over a component. Click the second icon to copy the component and its subsequent links. Then click Click to paste at the target position.

Delete components

Deleting a component removes all components on its subsequent branch.

  • Delete component and its branch:

    Hover over a component. Click the third icon to Delete the component and its subsequent links. Confirm in the dialog box. 23547

  • Cut the connection before the component:

    Hover over the connection line before a component. Click the scissors icon and confirm deletion.

FAQ

How do I view the campaign flow and component configuration after creating a campaign?

Click Details or Edit in the Actions column to open the canvas. Click any component to view its configuration in the right panel.

What campaign templates does Quick Audience provide?

Available templates:

  • New membership first purchase conversion:

    After successful membership registration, the system sends coupons. After delivery confirmation, a care SMS is sent. After the member logs in, a coupon expiration reminder encourages first purchase.

  • First purchase member guided re-purchase:

    For members who completed their first purchase but have not transacted in the last 30 days, the system sends coupons and then an SMS reminding them to use the coupons for re-purchase.

  • High-value low-frequency customer reactivation:

    For members with order amounts >= XXX yuan and purchase frequency < 3 times in the past 12 months, the system sends new product recommendation SMS to encourage re-purchase.
