To continuously enhance the monitoring service experience, the Alibaba Cloud technical team will launch a grayscale upgrade for the CloudMonitor product starting from September 1, 2025, and gradually roll out the CloudMonitor 2.0 version. This upgrade will provide you with more powerful full-stack observability capabilities while ensuring a smooth transition with zero additional costs.

I. Upgrade Schedule and Compatibility

• Grayscale Phase: The upgrade will be pushed to user accounts in batches (the grayscale ratio will be dynamically adjusted according to the strategy). The original monitoring functions will not be affected in any way, and all alarm rules, monitoring dashboards, and data collection will operate normally.
• Default Workspace Creation:
  • During the upgrade, the system will automatically create a default workspace in the corresponding region. For such workspaces, an exclusive Project will be created in SLS (Log Service) (with the annotation "cms 2.0 workspace").
  • Cost Description: Under this SLS Project, the resources automatically generated by the system are exclusive to CloudMonitor 2.0 and are not included in the SLS billing items of your account, so no additional fees will be incurred.

II. Core Value After Upgrade

By integrating the capabilities of Log Service (SLS) and Application Real-Time Monitoring Service (ARMS), CloudMonitor 2.0 achieves three major upgrades:

• Unified Full-Stack Observability: Supports unified access to metrics, traces, logs, and events for infrastructure, container clusters, and microservices, eliminating data silos.
• AI-Powered Intelligent Analysis: Adds intelligent root cause localization (Problem Insights) and Copilot-assisted diagnosis, which automatically correlate abnormal metrics with logs to improve fault troubleshooting efficiency.
• Zero-Threshold Experience: You can enable the 2.0 features through the console without reconfiguring data sources.

III. User Notes

• Do Not Delete the SLS Project: The SLS Project automatically created by the system (with the annotation "cms 2.0 workspace") is a necessary resource for the operation of CloudMonitor 2.0. Deleting it will render the new features unavailable.
