ApsaraDB RDS for SQL ServerContent
Target customers: RDS for SQL Server 2008 R2 users. Features released: you can upgrade RDS for SQL Server 2008 R2 instances to 2016 SE, 2016 EE, and 2012 EE instances. Compared with RDS for SQL Server 2008 R2 instances, these instances support more features, including data tracking, connections with servers, distributed transactions, and higher database permissions. By default, users are granted with database owner permissions. The upgrade process involves data backup and recovery. Therefore, the system takes some time to complete the upgrade process. The amount of time used to upgrade depends on the size of your database. Larger databases require a longer time. Instances are upgraded on the fly. During data backup and recovery, the system switches editions and may take up to 20 minutes to complete the process. We recommend that you implement this process during off-peak hours to minimize the impact on your business.
