"In the future, JNE is interested in continuing to provide better service availability to its customers, while also providing dynamic and intelligent services that can both meet and beat customer expectations. With Alibaba Cloud having provided JNE with a reliable disaster recovery solution, JNE is excited to enter the next steps of its digital transformation."
PT Jalur Nugraha Ekakurir, or JNE for short, was founded in 1990, and has been providing speedy express deliveries in Indonesia ever since. Today, JNE owns and operates over 6,000 service locations with more to open soon, and employs over 40,000 hard-working individuals. In recent years, JNE has been working hard towards the digital transformation of its services to make its already great delivery service smarter. At present, more than 150 JNE service locations are linked with JNE's online communication system, which allows customers to be able to track the delivery of all of their various parcels, packages and documents.
As JNE continues to evolve its services, the company requires a reliable disaster recovery system. JNE requires a strong system that can ensure the availability and continuity of business services; one that can help the company to provide the speedy delivery services and smart tracking that JNE customers have come to expect, and without any pesky service interruptions. JNE also requires that this solution be scalable. In particular, JNE requires services that can be scaled in minutes to meet the unique dynamics of its business and large customer base. JNE also required that this system be based on an OPEX model.
Why Alibaba Cloud?
Among cloud service providers, Alibaba Cloud was a natural choice for JNE's disaster recovery solution. Alibaba Cloud understands that high availability is crucial to providing a seamless and stable customer experience. And, as such, Alibaba Cloud's suite of disaster recovery solutions provides the physical and logical redundancy required to ensure zero service downtimes. Besides this, Alibaba Cloud is the number-one cloud service provider in the Asia Pacific region, and has a strong foothold in the Indonesian market, with several of its enterprise-level customers based in Indonesia.
Alibaba Cloud was able to provide JNE with a comprehensive disaster recovery solution, fulfilling all of the customer's requirements. The proposed solution used several of Alibaba Cloud's core computing and network products. In particular, Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances were used as the backbone of the disaster recovery solution, hosting the relevant applications as well as storing data using a system of block storage. Next, Elastic IP Address (EIP) was implemented to enable access to applications from remote sites. Last, Alibaba Cloud's Serve Load Balancer (SLB) product was used to ensure that services do not overload servers on the cloud. The solution implemented, in addition to preventing possible service downtime, is highly scalable and also highly available. As such, the solution can work with the dynamics of JNE's business by providing a higher availability capability at lower costs.
As JNE continue to explore other avenues in its digital transformation, the company will continue to entrust in the capable and reliable solutions that Alibaba Cloud has to offer. In the future, JNE is interested in continuing to provide better service availability to its customers, while also providing dynamic and intelligent services that can both meet and beat customer expectations. With Alibaba Cloud having provided JNE with a reliable disaster recovery solution, JNE is excited to enter the next steps of its digital transformation.
