Introduction:

In November 2025, Gartner released its latest "Innovation Guide for Generative AI Technologies" series of reports. These reports scan global vendors to provide recognition for customers across four key areas: Generative AI Cloud Infrastructure, Generative AI Engineering, Generative AI Model Providers, and AI Knowledge Management Applications/General Productivity. Alibaba Cloud is named in the Emerging Leaders Quadrant in all four key areas.

GenAI Specialized Cloud Infrastructure: According to Gartner: “the generative AI specialized cloud infrastructure market includes the cloud service providers focused on delivering optimized infrastructure for model training, inference and serving.” Only four vendors are placed in the Emerging Leaders Quadrant. Alibaba Cloud is the sole vendor from the Asia-Pacific region to be included.

GenAI Engineering: This focuses on tools for the full model lifecycle, including data preparation, model training/fine-tuning, model management, evaluation, and observability. Alibaba Cloud is in the Emerging Leaders Quadrant.

GenAI Model Providers: This assesses the comprehensive capabilities of GenAI models offered by vendors, including the diversity of models, support for different input/output modalities, compatibility with third-party tools, as well as security and privacy. Alibaba Cloud is positioned in the Emerging Leaders Quadrant, listed among the highest 3 positions on the “Features” metric.

AI Knowledge Management Applications/General Productivity: The evaluation scope covers enterprise-grade AI search, conversational AI platforms, and productivity tools for communication and content development. Alibaba Cloud is also in the Emerging Leaders Quadrant and is the only Chinese vendor recognized in this area.
