Gartner published its 2026 Magic Quadrant™ for Strategic Cloud Platform Services. Alibaba Cloud was named a Leader for the first time, making it the only Chinese provider—and the only Asia-Pacific provider—in the Leaders Quadrant.

In the report: “For many years, the global SCPS providers have been racing to dominate the industry’s enterprise IT infrastructure and become the most important platform providers in the world. Today, these hyperscalers are expanding beyond standard IaaS and PaaS services to offer complete solutions in strategic new areas, such as artificial intelligence, industry solutions, digital sovereignty, operational efficiency and hybrid/multicloud. Leaders distinguish themselves by offering a set of services suitable for strategic adoption and having an ambitious and well-aligned roadmap.

Alibaba Cloud’s full-stack AI cloud capabilities span four layers: infrastructure, models, platforms and applications.

At the infrastructure layer, Alibaba Cloud’s in-house T-Head Zhenwu series AI chips provide high-performance compute. At the model layer, the open-source Qwen model family has become one of the world’s leading open-source model families, with more than 460 models released as open source, over 3 billion downloads worldwide and more than 300,000 derivative models. From January to July this year, Qwen recorded 2.045 billion downloads on Hugging Face, continuing to lead the global open-source model community. At the platform layer, Alibaba Cloud’s Agent-Native Cloud and Alibaba Cloud Model Studio provide enterprises with enterprise-grade agent tools and end-to-end AI engineering capabilities. At the application layer, Qwen Work—the industry’s first product to support desktop agents, cloud agents and enterprise collaboration agents—is designed around real-world enterprise AI needs to improve productivity for organizations and individuals.

In particular, Alibaba Cloud optimizes AI workloads through purpose-built solutions including PAI-Lingjun Intelligent Computing Service, Cloud Parallel File Storage (CPFS) and T-Head Zhenwu AI chips. These solutions significantly improve the training and inference performance of large models while helping customers reduce the total cost of ownership of AI projects.

Global Footprint and Hybrid Cloud Capabilities

Alibaba Cloud’s global infrastructure now spans 31 regions and 106 availability zones, making it one of the world’s largest cloud computing networks. The company continues to expand its global cloud infrastructure in key markets including South Korea, France, Japan, Malaysia and Mexico, while rolling out AI products and services across major markets in Europe, East Asia, Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Alibaba’s AI offerings are also expanding internationally. The company is progressively deploying the international edition of Alibaba Cloud Model Studio, models such as Qwen and Wan, and agentic AI products including AgentRun, STAROps and ACS Agent Sandbox in overseas markets. For example, Brazilian technology solutions provider Jnsi is using Alibaba Cloud’s global cloud and AI capabilities to deliver digital transformation solutions to local enterprises. Open-source software and enterprise IT services company 4Linux is combining Alibaba Cloud’s open-source Qwen models with its local service capabilities to help enterprises explore generative AI applications.

For hybrid cloud management, Alibaba Cloud delivers a highly integrated experience through Apsara Stack. A unified management console improves efficiency and reduces operational complexity across public and private clouds, giving enterprise customers worldwide flexible, secure and scalable cloud service options.
