Workbench remote connection problem for Windows system instance
Workbench remote connection problem (for Windows system instances)
• What should I do if a message indicating that the connection timed out is displayed when connecting to a Windows instance remotely through the Workbench tool?
• What should I do if the user name or password is incorrect when connecting to a Windows instance remotely through the Workbench tool?
1. What should I do if the remote connection to the Windows instance through the Workbench tool prompts that the connection has timed out?
When using the Workbench tool to remotely connect to a Windows instance, the error message "Login to host: i-m5e****73a (47.*.*.157:3389) failed, reason: link timed out!" is displayed. link timeout
Common causes of this problem are as follows:
• The security group settings of the Windows instance do not allow the Workbench tool to connect to the target Windows instance.
• The remote desktop RDP port is not the default 3389 port.
• Firewall settings within the Windows instance did not allow Workbench tools to connect to the target Windows instance.
• Third-party security management software restricts users from logging in remotely.
Please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot:
• View the RDP port of the target Windows instance.
1) Not port 3389
Retry the remote connection with the modified RDP port in the Workbench tool.
2) It is port 3389
Please proceed to the next step to check.
• Check the security group settings of the target Windows instance to check whether the port of the SSH service is released.
1) not let go
Add a security group rule that allows Workbench access.
2) Released
Please proceed to the next step to check.
• Check whether the firewall is enabled in the Windows instance and does not allow the Workbench tool to connect to the RDP port. The inspection steps are as follows:
1) Log in to the Windows instance through Alibaba Cloud VNC.
2) Check the firewall status.
It is already enabled, please turn off the firewall, and then try the remote connection again through the Workbench tool.
Not enabled, please continue to the next step to check.
• Check whether third-party security management software, such as security dongle, is installed in the Windows instance, and use this software to restrict users from logging in remotely.
1) Third-party security management software restricts remote login
Please temporarily disable the restriction on remote login by the third-party security management software, and then try to connect remotely through the Workbench tool.
2) Remote login is not restricted by third-party security management software
There may be other system settings that restrict remote login in the Windows instance. It is recommended that you choose the Alibaba Cloud VNC tool for remote connection.
