A quick tour of WWDC22
Foreword
If the usual WWDC is focused on software, then the WWDC22 held in the early hours of this morning is both software and hardware.
From the new M2 chip, to the MacBook Air with the M2 chip and the new design, to the MacBook Pro 13.3-inch version with the new M2 chip.
From iOS 16, which has been updated on the lock screen, macOS Ventura, which can play games, to watchOS 9, which is characterful and healthy, and finally iPadOS 16, which is fully upgraded.
At the WWDC22 Global Developers Conference early this morning, Apple released new operating systems: macOS 13, iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9. Surprisingly, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with M2 chips were also introduced.
The blockbuster M2
The m2 chip has an 8-core CPU, and an 8-core or 10-core GPU is optional. Compared with the previous M1, the overall performance is improved by 40%.
The M2 chip uses the same 4+4 8-core CPU architecture as the M1. The difference is that the M2 chip uses the second-generation 5nm process technology, and the number of transistors exceeds 20 billion.
Going back to the performance comparison, the CPU performance of M2 is about 18% higher than that of M1, and the energy consumption ratio is further improved.
Of course, Apple still pulled out the same level of Windows this time and slapped it again.
According to the data given by Apple, the M2 chip can achieve the same level of computing performance as the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 equipped with i7-1255U with about a quarter of the power consumption, which is equivalent to the 12-core CPU i7 in absolute performance. -1250P about 87% level
In terms of GPU, the performance improvement of M2 is more obvious. M2 can choose up to 10-core GPU, and its absolute performance is 35% higher than that of M1. Quality play "Resident Evil: Village", so that your MAC can also play 3A masterpieces.
Can you imagine the joy of experiencing 3A masterpieces on an ultra-thin and quiet thin and light notebook~~
At the same time, the memory bandwidth of M2 reaches 100GB/s, and it can carry up to 24GB of unified memory. In the past, people complained about the small memory of the M1 chip and so on, they can start with peace of mind.
The M2 chip also uses the same media processing engine as the M1 Pro, which can hardware-accelerate H.264, HEVC, ProRes and ProRes RAW to support more powerful 8K and 4K video processing performance.
However, in terms of expansion, the M2 can still only be connected to a display with a maximum resolution of 6K (60HZ).
