This topic describes the billing methods and billable items of Hybrid Backup Recovery (HBR).
Billing methods
HBR supports only the pay-as-you-go billing method.
- You are billed for the resources that you use.
- Bills are generated on an hourly basis and payments are settled on a monthly basis.
- By default, you are billed for HBR based on the pay-as-you-go billing method after you activate HBR.
Billable items

Backup fees
Category Billable item Billing method Pricing Client usage fee - HBR clients for file backup
You are charged based on the number of servers or ECS instances on which the HBR client is installed.
- HBR clients for SAP HANA instance backup
You are charged based on the number of instances on which the HBR client is installed.
- HBR clients for ECS instance backup
You are charged based on the number of ECS instances that are specified in a backup plan. The fees for the storage usage of ECS snapshots that are used by this feature are included into the snapshot service bill. If you enable cross-region replication, the fees for the storage usage of ECS snapshots that are replicated to the destination region and the fees for cross-region traffic are also included into the snapshot service bill.
- HBR clients for OSS backup, NAS backup, and Tablestore backup
Free of charge.
- HBR clients for VMware backup
You are charged based on the disk size allocated to the source virtual machine (VM).
- HBR clients for ECS disaster recovery
You can use the ECS disaster recovery feature free of charge for 30 days. You are charged for the ECS instances, the Elastic Block Storage (EBS) disks, and the ECS snapshots that are used when you implement disaster recovery for ECS resources.
- Migration of VMs to the cloud
You are charged based on the number of migrated VMs.
- HBR clients for SQL Server database backup (old version)
You are charged based on the number of instances on which the HBR client is installed.
Pay-as-you-go
The pricing is the same for all regions. For more information about the pay-as-you-go billing method, see Pricing.
Storage usage fee - Usage of locally redundant storage
HBR deduplicates and compresses data for backup. You are charged for the backup storage based on the storage space occupied by the data that is deduplicated and compressed. You can back up an OSS bucket or a NAS file system free of charge within 30 days after you create a backup plan.
- Usage of zone-redundant storage
HBR deduplicates and compresses data for backup. You are charged for the backup storage based on the storage space occupied by the data that is deduplicated and compressed.
Note Mirror vaults can be used in the same way as backup vaults. The pricing for the storage usage of backup vaults is same as the pricing for the storage usage of mirror vaults.Pay-as-you-go
