This topic describes the billing methods and billable items of Hybrid Backup Recovery (HBR).

Billing methods

HBR supports only the pay-as-you-go billing method.

  • You are billed for the resources that you use.
  • Bills are generated on an hourly basis and payments are settled on a monthly basis.
  • By default, you are billed for HBR based on the pay-as-you-go billing method after you activate HBR.

Billable items

The following table describes the billable items of HBR.

Billable item Description Billing method Pricing
Clients and services HBR provides clients that can be used to back up files, SAP HANA instances, Object Storage Service (OSS) buckets, Apsara File Storage NAS file systems, and VMware virtual machines (VMs). In addition, you can use HBR to implement disaster recovery, migrate VMs to the cloud, and back up ECS instances.
  • Backup clients for files and SAP HANA instances

You are charged based on the number of nodes on which backup clients are installed. You can use HBR clients to back up Cloud Storage Gateway (CSG) instances, ECS files, and local files.

  • Backup clients for OSS buckets and NAS file systems

    Free of charge.

  • Backup clients for VMware

You are charged based on the volume of data that is backed up from the data source.

  • Clients for disaster recovery

You are charged for the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances, the Elastic Block Storage (EBS) disks, and the ECS snapshots that are used when you implement disaster recovery for ECS resources.

  • Cloud migration service for VMs

You are charged based on the number of VMs that are migrated by using the cloud migration service. The unit price is USD 108 per VM. Bills are generated after VMs are migrated.

  • Backup clients for ECS instances

USD 0.005088 for each client per day

Pay-as-you-go

The pricing is the same for all regions. For more information about the pay-as-you-go billing method, see Pricing.

Storage capacity of backup vaults HBR deduplicates and compresses data for backup. You are charged for the backup storage based on the storage space occupied by the data that is deduplicated and compressed. You can back up an OSS bucket or a NAS file system free of charge within 30 days after you create the OSS bucket or NAS file system.
Note Mirror vaults can be used in the same manner as backup vaults. This way, the pricing for the storage capacity of backup vaults is same as the pricing for the storage capacity of mirror vaults.

Pay-as-you-go

The pricing is the same for all regions. For more information about the pay-as-you-go billing method, see Pricing.

Outbound traffic over the Internet when data is being restored When you restore data from HBR to your local servers over the Internet, you are charged for the traffic that is generated when you download data.
  • When you restore data from HBR to ECS instances over the internal network of Alibaba Cloud, you are not charged for the traffic that is generated when you download data.
  • When you upload data to HBR, you are not charged for the traffic that is generated during this period.
Pay-as-you-go

The pricing is the same for all regions. For more information, see Pricing.

Cross-region replication traffic
  • Cross-region replication traffic

You are charged for the traffic that is generated when you replicate backup data from backup vaults to mirror vaults.

  • Replication traffic during cross-region disaster recovery

You are charged for the traffic that is generated when you replicate ECS disk data to disaster recovery sites.

Pay-as-you-go

The pricing is the same for all regions. For more information, see Pricing.

Database backup
  • Rental of database backup vaults
  • Storage space that is occupied by database backups

Note HBR provides a free trial period of 30 days to allow you to back up each NAS file system and OSS bucket. Within the free trial period, you are not charged for the storage space that is occupied by the backup data of the NAS files systems and the OSS buckets in a backup vault.
