ECS File Backup Essential Edition is a new Cloud Backup feature for ECS file backup scenarios. It provides basic backup and recovery capabilities. This feature is billed based on the total capacity of block storage attached to your backed-up ECS instances. Each Alibaba Cloud account receives a long-term 100 GiB free quota. This topic describes the free quota, its deduction rules, and the billing method used after the quota is exceeded.
Benefits
Free quota: 100 GiB Block Storage Backup
Applicable regions: The quota is shared across all regions by an Alibaba Cloud account and all its associated RAM users under the same User ID (UID).
How to claim: The free quota is applied automatically when you use ECS File Backup Essential Edition. You are billed for any usage that exceeds the quota. You do not need to claim the quota manually.
Deduction rules
The free quota is applied to ECS instances that have ECS File Backup Essential Edition enabled and have generated backups. The quota is deducted based on the billing order of the instances in Cloud Backup. For the specific billing order, see your bill.
Billing after the quota is exceeded
After you exceed the free quota, billing automatically switches to the pay-as-you-go method. You are billed based on the total block storage capacity attached to the ECS instances that have backups. Purchase a resource plan to offset costs. Cloud Backup applies the resource plan for deduction only after your usage exceeds the free quota.
