To obtain a global certification from one of the Apsara Clouder Technical Certifications areas, is it necessary to pass all the exams in that area?
For example to obtain the Cloud Computing Specialist Certification, it is necessary to approve the 11 exams ?, For me it is impossible to know Cantonese, thanks

Hi @paco,  As of now there is no such thing... It is all individual solution based certifications... For instance, I will take your example "Apsara Clouder Technical Certifications - Cloud Computing" - If you complete " Construct a Dynamic Website" you will get a certification like "Apsara Clouder Technical Certifications - Cloud Computing Specialist -  Construct a Dynamic Website". If you complete all certification also you will not be entitled to "Apsara Clouder Cloud Computing Specialist" instead you have individual certification for each solution.

Hi @ghulam, If something like that comes in the future it will be good. For instance, If you completed 5 Certification under a category and then you entitled to have the specialization certification. It will be awesome. Hope they will have something like that in future.

Hello @Ranjithkumar, I thought there were group certifications, 5 big data courses are equivalent to a big data expert certification. It is a pity that they have not realized yet that they would be interesting titles to have.
@GhulamQadir, I am also interested in having titles that bring together knowledge.

Everyone, please get serious about what an expert is. I have completed the five Alibaba Big Data online videos and exams. This would not qualify anyone as an expert. These five course would put you at the beginner level.

To be qualified as a Big Data expert will require a lot more training and several years of hard work. How many of you that took the Big Data online videos have actually spent time with MaxCompute, E-MapReduce, QuickBI and DataV using ALL of the features? Each of these products could take several months to just be comfortable with the services.

For E-MapReduce, not only do you need to know Hadoop but you also need to know most of the other Apache services such as Spark, Pig and Hive. Add both Java and Python programming to the requirements and you could spend an entire year full time to get to an intermediate level with E-MapReduce. Have you spent the time to build a Hadoop Cluster on EC2, gone thru the installation and configuration of each service? How about security? How are users and permissions managed? How do you get the data out of E-MapReduce?

MaxCompute is another important BigData product. How well can you write SQL? How well can you optimize SQL queries for processing 1000s of TB? How well do you understand Partitions? How are you going to get a massive amount of data into MaxCompute? Have you spent time with Tunnel, ODPSCMD, pyODPS? How about the process to load data from OSS into MaxCompute? Can you write Java or Python code to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) into MaxCompute without looking at or copying someone else's work?

If your goal is a title that was not earned thru hard work, you will be very embarrassed when you work with someone that actually is an expert. There are no shortcuts to mastering the job or task at hand except thru putting in quality time and hard work. The Alibaba Training videos are excellent products to get you started. Now that you have completed all five courses, close your books, go to the console and configure the services to process the Apache logs for five ECS instances in both MaxCompute and E-MapReduce. Now display that processed data in Quick BI and DataV. If you cannot picture in your mind every step, every line of code, every procedure from begging to end then you are not an expert. You are an intern.

@JohnHanley ,Maybe the word expert, is too strong, but I think it would take a more global title for each area of knowledge. With a minimum number of exams needed to complete that area.

@JohnHanley, Quizas la palabra experto, sea demasiado fuerte, pero si pienso que haria falta un titulo mas global para cada area de conocimiento. Con un numero minimo de examenes necesarios para completar ese area.

I agree with you John... But We are not saying we are experts... For instance, take one certification, "Construct a dynamic Web"  by completing the course and having that title means you are an expert in that solution no not... Titles are a minimum level guarantee that the person knows something about that... we are expecting that title to show we also have some knowledge under particular area not to say we are expert in that... Hope you understand what we tried to project...

The training material that Alibaba has available today is beginner level material. When I say beginner I really mean beginner. Nowhere near what you would need to get a job or consult to any real enterprise company. Take the exam for the AWS Solutions Architect Professional. Now you will see an exam that requires years of real-world experience to pass.

Take building websites. To even be moderately good you need to go way beyond moving some dialogs around in WordPress. You need to understand at a minimum:
1) Security. This does not means setting a couple of firewall ruiles. Do you really understand networking, firewalls, ACLs, how hackers break into systems, etc.
2) How to manage fault tolerance, high availability, scaling, elasticity.
3) Monitoring and Metrics. Do you know why you monitor X, Y and Z. What are they? What do they really means to the client's perception of the website? How do they affect the items in #2?
4) How to handle millions of hits per hour consistently, reliably, every day with near zero downtime. Near zero means less than 5 minutes per year.
5) How to process billions of rows website log files. How do you reliably move the log data to another location such as OSS? How about steaming the log data?
6) Backup, disaster recovery, benchmarking. Do you really understand what happens at the hardware and operating system layers for just a website?
7) Web server configuration. Apache, Windows, Nginx. This does not mean just setting up VirtualHost. How about Redirects (do you know the difference between a 301, 302 and 307), SSL, compression, encyption, HTTP2, DMARC for email services, etc. etc. etc.
8) VPNs, Bastion Hosts, SSH, KeyPairs.
9) Web server languages. PHP, Python, Java, JavaScript, Node.js, .NET, etc. How fluent are you in each one of these languages? You need to be amazing in at least one language.
10) Framworks. The list here is huge. Just one framework can take months of study to be proficient at.

Passing a 45 minute course for Dynamic websites is the first 45 minutes of 8,000 hours of study and hard work just on websites.

I have 25 developers, solution architects, etc that report to me. Nobody gets on our team without passing a review of everything on my list (tailored for the position).

Yes, you can get by building WordPress sites that get hacked, crash, etc and make small change doing it. But if you want a real career that pays $100K+ per year ...
