Parameter Filter Feature in Alibaba Cloud CDN Basic Configuration

Parameter Filter Feature in Alibaba Cloud CDN Basic Configuration

The parameter filter feature can be enabled or disabled in the following path:

"Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) Domain List" > "Manage" > "Basic Info." > "Basic Configuration" > "Filter Parameters" on the Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) Console

After the parameter filter feature is enabled, the parameters following "?" in the requested URL are ignored, which increases the Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) cache hit rate.

After "Filter Parameters" is set to "On", cache hit does not require matching the parameters following "?" in the requested URL, thus increasing the Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) cache hit rate. For example:

When receiving the first request for http://www.****.com/1.jpg, Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) retrieves the requested file from the origin site because the file is not in cache.

When receiving the second request for http://www.****.com/1.jpg?test1, Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) does not match the parameters following "?" of the requested URL because "?" parameter filter is enabled. The http://www.****.com/1.jpg file in cache is hit.

The http://www.****.com/1.jpg file in cache is always hit during subsequent access, regardless of the parameters following "?" of the requested URLs.

After "Filter Parameters" is set to "Off", the parameters following "?" of the requested URL must be matched exactly. For example:

When receiving the first request for http://www.****.com/1.jpg, Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) retrieves the requested file from the origin site because the file is not in cache.

When receiving the second request for http://www.****.com/1.jpg?test1, Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) must exactly match the parameters following "?" in the requested URL because "?" parameter filter is disabled. Alibaba Cloud CDN(CDN) needs to retrieve the http://www.****.com/1.jpg?test1 file from the origin site because the http://www.****.com/1.jpg file in cache is not hit.

During subsequent access, the cached file is hit only when the parameters following "?" in the requested URL are exactly matched with those in the cached URL.
