ECS Bandwidth FAQs

1) Is the bandwidth dedicated bandwidth?
Yes.

2) Does the bandwidth use a single line or dual line design?
We provide multiline BGP access.

3) What does 5 Mbps bandwidth mean?
5 Mbps bandwidth indicates that the total egress bandwidth is 5 Mbps. This
means 5 Mbps of downstream bandwidth and unlimited upstream bandwidth
(downstream bandwidth is the outbound bandwidth (e.g. outgoing server
bandwidth); upstream bandwidth is the inbound bandwidth (e.g. incoming server
bandwidth).

4) What are the bandwidth prices?
For information on bandwidth prices, please refer to the ECS Price Overview
at https://help.aliyun.com/view/11108189_13433720.html

5) Can ECS in different regions communicate through the intranet?
By default, ECS in different regions cannot communicate through the
intranet.

6) Why does a new ECS have about a 200k volume of incoming network traffic?
This is caused by ARP broadcast packets. Due to the
wide distribution of ECS network segments, the ARP packets between each machine
and the gateway are requested, resulting in a large number of ARP request
packets. There are few actual response packets, so there is no effect on the
ECS.

If we opt to pay-by-traffic, are we billed for the 200Kbps ingress from ARP?  Does the billing metric include the intranet (eth0) interface as well as the internet interface (eth1)?

Hi There,
With AliYun, is INBOUND traffic Free?

I have 10TB a month of inbound data, to be stored with OSS.

Will the 10TB be charged as Network traffic?

Intranet is free, both inbound and outbound.     for Internet, inbound is also free

OSS inbound is also free. OSS will charge user for 3 things: a. outbound traffic, b. invoke times, c. storage space used

Hi There,

Based on example above. Assume my ECS on Singapore, 5mbps dedicated bandwidth only for local bandwidth within Singapore or international bandwidth which access from oversea such as China Mainland or SEA? Access from oversea also can get 5mbps?

The bandwidth means  outbound traffic peak bandwidth.  You can test with iPerf tool, for the international transaction speed,  it depends on the network link connection in between, no gurantee can be made.
