Genting's journey to the cloud started with their need for a new IT strategy that would support their fast growing business and improve their customer experience. For Genting, their online booking engine is vital for hotel booking and marks the beginning of their customer journey. Genting also needed a solution that could handle reservation requests and provide a seamless experience for its upcoming outdoor theme park: Genting SkyWorlds.

It was essential for Alibaba Cloud to create cloud solution that included data migration, web hosting and available in China. It was also crucial for the online booking engine website to be able to handle seasonal traffic that might cause other booking websites to suffer from performance issues. In particular, Alibaba Cloud developed and deployed the Virtual Queue (VQ) Solution to meet the unique needs for Genting SkyWorlds. This newly developed system will integrate Alibaba Cloud's advanced technology with a reservation system for individual rides to provide a seamless and engaging entertainment experience from start to finish. The solution will also help gamify the Genting SkyWorlds experience by providing incentives to visitors.

Alibaba Cloud's VQ Solution leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) and integrates five algorithm modules – Dynamic VQ Slot Prediction, Dynamic Gamification Management, Itinerary Planning, Incentive Recommendation as well as Crowd Analysis and Prediction, to enable more efficient crowd management and to reduce waiting time dynamically. The VQ solution will allow visitors to plan their entire theme park experience from start to finish even before they reach the location. Visitors will be able to download the Genting SkyWorlds' VQ Mobile App and purchase their tickets online at their convenience. Once the tickets are booked, the VQ Mobile App will allow visitors to plan their itinerary or provide them with an alternative optimized recommended itinerary to offer them a customized experience based on their preferences. By continuously evaluating the supply and demand for each attraction, the Alibaba Cloud VQ Solution will allow visitors to see available VQ slots and the waiting period for each ride in real-time. Visitors will also receive a recommended itinerary which offer suggestions on suitable attractions they can enjoy while waiting for their turn. The new VQ Solution will also allow Genting SkyWorlds to generate incentives to help divert patrons away from overcrowded areas to non-ride attractions and facilities, such as eateries and retail malls. Incentives will also be provided to visitors who continue to use the VQ Mobile App to reserve VQ slots and follow the recommended itineraries. Overall, Alibaba Cloud worked with Genting to create a convenient and customized solution for Genting's migration that can efficiently handle massive volumes of data, manage heavy traffic and provide additional security. Not only did Alibaba Cloud and their suite of products such as ECS, SLB, OSS, ApsaraDB for RDS, Anti-DDoS and VPC prove a reliable IaaS provider but, they had also assisted Genting in migration, recommendations on best practices and also provided solutions to enhance Genting's IT infrastructure. As of today, Genting continues to move more and more or their workloads to Alibaba Cloud.
