ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server supports dedicated, general-purpose, and shared instance families. This topic describes the features supported by each instance family of ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server.
RDS SQL Server primary instance
The following content applies to ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server instances that run Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, and Web Edition.
RDS SQL Server instances with disk storage are built on Elastic Compute Service (ECS). Different instances may use different ECS instance types, which may result in performance differences.

When you restore data to an existing instance, restoration is supported only between instances of the same family, or between dedicated and general-purpose instances. Restoration is not supported between shared instances and instances of other families. | ||||
