Qwen App, Alibaba’s consumer-facing AI application, has spurred a behavioral shift toward AI-powered shopping during its Chinese New Year (CNY) campaign. Since launching festive incentives that values 3 billion yuan ($431 million) on February 6, the app has driven over 120 million consumer orders in just six days (from Feb 6 to Feb 11).
The initiative marks a milestone in the rise of agentic commerce, where AI shopping is increasingly becoming a new lifestyle choice as consumers embrace AI agents that help streamline their daily tasks.
Notably, nearly half of all orders came from users in counties and rural areas in China, while about 1.56 million people aged 60 and above made their first-ever online purchases through Qwen App. This demonstrates how the app is democratizing access to cutting-edge technology, offering an inclusive, intuitive and engaging AI shopping experience for elderly users and those beyond metropolitan centers.
Qwen App has ranked No. 1 on Apple App Store’s free apps chart in China for the past six consecutive days. Since its public beta launch on November 17, 2025, Qwen App has surpassed 100 million monthly active users in under two months.

Since February 6, Alibaba has upgraded Qwen App by integrating Freshippo (Alibaba’s new retail platform for groceries and fresh goods), Tmall Supermarket (its B2C online grocery arm), and Damai (the entertainment ticketing platform), so consumers can order food and beverages, book flights and purchase movie tickets all through Qwen App while enjoying significant incentives during the CNY holiday. The App has previously integrated other core services across shopping, payments, travel and navigation from Alibaba’s ecosystem, including Taobao, Taobao Instant Commerce, Alipay, Fliggy, and Amap.
Powered by Alibaba’s most advanced Qwen3 foundation model, Qwen App represents an important milestone in the company’s AI strategy: turning model leadership into scalable, real-world applications that sit directly on top of Alibaba’s commerce, services and payments infrastructure. By automating everyday activities across shopping, travel, payments, and productivity within a single interface, the app aims to redefine how users interact with AI. Alibaba plans to continue expanding Qwen App’s capabilities in a phased manner, with a focus on reliability, user trust and real-world usefulness.
