Alibaba Group has earned a spot on the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list for the second year running, recognized for its rapid expansion in open-source AI. The honor follows TIME naming Alibaba one of TIME’s 10 Most Influential AI Companies of 2026, marking the first time the company has appeared on two distinct TIME rankings in the same year.

This year, Alibaba appears in the “Titans” category—a cohort spanning technology, energy, and other sectors—alongside global leaders such as Google, Netflix, SpaceX, and Boeing.

TIME pointed to Alibaba’s Qwen model family as a key driver of its full-stack AI strategy. In less than three years, Qwen has surpassed one billion cumulative downloads and spawned more than 200,000 derivative models, making it the world’s most widely adopted open-source AI model series.

Appearing across two distinct TIME rankings in the same year, Alibaba is extending its global reach well beyond e-commerce and positioning itself as a full-stack AI company with ambitions spanning cloud infrastructure, proprietary chips, and agentic enterprise services.
