DataWorks:Metadata details

Last Updated:Jun 25, 2026

The Metadata details page lets you view the complete metadata for assets in DataWorks Data Map (tables, AI assets, multi-modal datasets, workspaces, projects, and so on), including basic information, columns, lineage, usage, data preview, data health, and notes. This topic introduces the overall layout of the metadata details page and the entries to the sub-topics.

You can open the metadata details page of an asset from any of the following entries:

Page layout

The metadata details page renders different content depending on the asset type. Common areas include:

  • Header: Shows the asset name, type tag, description, and the operation button group in the upper-right corner (such as Apply for permission, Add to album, Favorite, Generate API, Data analysis, AI enhancement, Refresh metadata). Available buttons depend on the asset type, tenant activation, and your permissions.

  • Header banner: Based on context, displays an AI suggestion banner or a related-table recommendation banner to help you quickly discover optimization opportunities or more suitable assets.

  • Left basic information panel: Collapsible, showing core fields for the asset (such as owner, project, lifecycle, last update time). If the administrator has configured custom attributes for this asset type, a Custom Attributes card appears at the bottom of the panel.

  • Right tab area: Dynamically displays tabs based on the asset type. Table assets may include: Column details, Output information, Lineage, Data health, Usage records, Data preview, Data exploration, Data insights, Notes, and Related information. Whether each tab is visible depends on the data source type, tenant activation, and permissions.

View metadata details by scenario

The structure of the metadata details page varies by asset type. See the corresponding topic for each asset type:

  • MaxCompute table data: Uses a MaxCompute table as the example, describing the full set of 10 top-level tabs and the header operation buttons of the table details page. This is the reference blueprint for table details from other engines.

  • Lindorm table data: Describes the Lindorm-specific fields, partitions, and query capabilities of the table details page.

  • View AI assets: Describes the metadata details of AI assets such as datasets, including the lineage view that is specific to AI assets.

  • Multi-modal metadata management: Describes the metadata details and scenario-specific capabilities for multi-modal datasets such as images and documents.

  • View workspaces in Data Map: Describes the metadata details for DataWorks workspaces and the drill-down entries.

  • MaxCompute projects and databases: Describes the metadata details for MaxCompute compute projects bound to the workspace and for various engine databases (MySQL, Hologres, DLF, Hive, and so on).

  • Query an API: Describes the metadata details for DataService API assets.
