Set up Alibaba Mail for your organization: purchase a plan, create employee accounts, migrate existing emails, and configure DNS records.
Step 1: Purchase an Alibaba Mail plan
Choose an edition and account count for your organization. Alibaba Mail purchase process.
Step 2: Set the administrator password
After purchase, configure the postmaster administrator account. Reset the password for the postmaster administrator account.
Step 3: Create employee accounts
From the administrator console: Add accounts individually or import them in batches. How do I create an employee account?.
Step 4: Migrate your existing emails
1. IMAP protocol (recommended): Transfer emails from your previous provider. Mailbox Migration. Note: If you do not need to migrate email, skip to Step 6.
2. Configure an IMAP client to upload local emails: See Migrate local email data using Outlook + IMAP or Migrate local email data using Foxmail + IMAP.
3. Seamless Exchange migration: Contact the Alibaba Mail help desk.
Step 5: Verify the email migration
Compare migrated email counts with the original mailbox to verify migration completeness.
Step 6: Configure DNS records
Update your DNS records to point your domain to Alibaba Mail. If you previously used another email provider, delete or pause those records first.
