L’Oréal China and Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, announced a strategic collaboration to deploy full-stack AI across multiple business scenarios, including intelligent customer service, marketing, AI agents, and R&I innovation. Leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s advanced infrastructure and Qwen-based AI capabilities, the collaboration aims to boost operational efficiency, elevate consumer experiences, and advance technological innovation across the beauty industry.
Drawing on Qwen’s capabilities, L’Oréal China has developed an agentic application powered by a comprehensive domain knowledge base—to deliver accurate, intelligent Q&A for frontline skincare practitioners and improve communication efficiency with consumers. In addition, L’Oréal China’s IT organization is adopting Alibaba Cloud’s AI coding assistant, to accelerate software development.
Under the collaboration, L’Oréal China will build, fine-tune, and deploy model applications on Qwen model families and Model Studio, Alibaba Cloud’s one-stop AI development platform.
The collaboration is also aimed at accelerating the product R&I and design in beauty industry by combining L’Oréal China’s industry expertise with Alibaba Cloud’s strengths in cloud computing and AI, as well as leveraging open-source communities and broader developer ecosystems,
Additionally, Alibaba Cloud will provide a comprehensive AI training and certification program to help L’Oréal China teams rapidly build AI literacy and application skills, supporting a more creative, future-ready organization.
Barbara Lavernos, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of L’Oreal Group, in charge of Research, Innovation and Technology said: “We firmly believe that the future of beauty lies at the intersection of technology, personalization, and sustainability. China’s fast-evolving consumer landscape, and increasingly discerning consumer sentiment offer a uniquely fertile ground for Beauty Tech innovation. Our collaboration with Alibaba Cloud embodies this spirit of co-creation, and together, we aim to elevate consumer experiences, boost operational efficiency, and set a new benchmark for sustainable and responsible Beauty Tech.”
Patrick LIU, President of Public Cloud Business and Senior Vice President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence said: “The beauty industry is an ideal arena for the large-scale application of AI. We’re honored to collaborate with L’Oréal, the global beauty leader, on a full-stack AI collaboration.
