Alibaba Cloud's Young Power Journey: From One Day to Day One

This article aims to showcase the voices of participants in the Student Ambassador program and Student Internship program initiated by Alibaba Cloud in Indonesia.

Introduction

As the advancement of technologies continues to grow rapidly, the demand for tech-savvy talents is skyrocketing. It is predicted that in 2050, workers in Indonesia will be required to have basic technical skills. In hoping to tackle this problem, Alibaba Cloud initiated the Student Ambassador program continued by internship program to help Indonesian students in developing both their hard and soft skills from global tech companies' perspective. Through these programs, young Indonesians would be able to get more opportunities and skills to adapt to the fast-changing tech industry.

Student Ambassador Program

Since 2022, Alibaba Cloud has traveled around Indonesia to collaborate with multiple top universities and communities to provide youngsters with the opportunity to learn about Alibaba Cloud technology. The presence of Alibaba Cloud amongst Indonesian students became more apparent when Alibaba Cloud launched its very first Student Ambassador Program. Partnering with selected universities, 1500+ students around Indonesia registered into the program and 20 were selected to become the Student Ambassador. For three months, students from various backgrounds were given training on the basics of cloud computing, marketing, and developing business in a big technology company.

Not only that, students were also separated into four groups and were given the opportunity to host their very own event. Alibaba Cloud also provides students with free certifications which also help students build their careers.

Student Internship Program

The journey for young talents of Alibaba Cloud's Student Ambassador does not end there. Four students were carefully selected to be interns of Alibaba Cloud for six months. The internee consists of two Solution Architect interns, one Marketing intern, and one Business Development intern. During the internship period the students were actively engaged in numerous activities including hosting events, attending customer meetings, creating blogs, becoming speakers and even handling major customer accounts together with their mentors. The interns were also given the chance to take ACA and ACP exams for free to improve their technical knowledge.

The coolest thing about Alibaba Cloud is its open culture. What I enjoy most about working at Alibaba Cloud is the flexible environment and the culture of appreciation for even the smallest efforts. It truly feels like being a "part of them” especially when I was an intern back then. Whether it's creating a blog, contributing to a white paper, or achieving cloud certification, the positive response from everyone, including the leadership team, is always encouraging. They not only appreciate but also provide valuable feedback, motivating younger employees like me to continually improve.

The experience of becoming an intern was a mix of excitement and nerves. Every day feels like a chance to learn something new and face unexpected twists. It's a bit overwhelming, but also super cool. What we can all agree on as the internee of Alibaba Cloud is that the working environment is very supportive and friendly.

Conclusion

Based on the positive feedbacks from the current and past interns', Alibaba Cloud has successfully helped young Indonesian students in improving their hard and soft skills. The student ambassador and internship program provide the students with the opportunity to experience a real working environment and taught them to adapt to the ever-changing technology advancement.
