Alibaba Cloud's Wuying Awarded Innovation in Education Technology

Alibaba Cloud’s educational initiative titled 'Wuying Cloud Study Room' received the 'EdTech Deployment of the Year – K-12' award during the annual EdTech Breakthrough Awards program.

Last week, Alibaba Cloud’s educational initiative titled Wuying Cloud Study Room that gives schools in underdeveloped regions in China access to digital learning platforms received the EdTech Deployment of the Year – K-12 award during the annual EdTech Breakthrough Awards program.

The EdTech Breakthrough Awards program, the largest and most competitive recognition program in education technology, recognizes people in and around education for outstanding contributions in transforming education through technology. This year’s program has attracted more than 2,500 nominations around the world.

First started in 2021, the program enables teachers and students from rural China to access IT resources, learning materials and applications, from anywhere and through any device, powered by Alibaba Cloud’s Wuying architecture. By running all workload on the cloud, schools in underdeveloped areas can reduce the maintenance costs for hardware, reducing the need to purchase new IT equipment.

Since its launch, the program has been deployed in 162 schools in over 40 counties across China, providing more than 100,000 students with access to digital learning platforms that include IT resources, learning materials and software applications to facilitate their learning experience.
