Alibaba Cloud Singapore AI Hackathon Successfully Concludes

With the launch of National AI Strategy (NAIS) 2.0, Singapore not only demonstrates its cutting-edge stance in science and technology, but also demonstrates its determination to deepen AI applications to promote economic and social development. Against this background, Alibaba Cloud International team successfully held this AI Hackathon event in the Singapore office from March 7 to 8, 2024, attracting 117 developers from enterprises and universities to sign up, and a total of 21 teams competed fiercely.

The event brought together developers from different backgrounds. After 24 hours of continuous development, 17 high-quality AI applications based on Alibaba Cloud PAI, AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, ECS and other services and Tongyi Qianwen were finally delivered. These applications not only solve real business and social problems, but also fully reflect the technical strength and creativity of developers.

The first-prize team used Alibaba Cloud RDS, Function Computing, OSS and other services to jointly develop an intelligent monitoring iPhone application that can detect and analyze babies' cries in real time and help parents respond promptly.

The second prize winners from the two teams, respectively used AI technology to improve real-time monitoring of security systems and in-depth insights into product review analysis.

The third prize winners are also from two teams. Team One uses ECS and Tongyi Qianwen to help teachers grade assignments and provide error feedback, reducing teachers' work pressure. Team Two also used Alibaba Cloud's ECS and Tongyi Qianwen to create an application called DormChecker to help relevant companies and institutions in Singapore intelligently analyze and improve the hygiene conditions of migrant workers' dormitories.

The total prize pool of this competition exceeds S$50,000 (including prize money and cloud resources). The judges are selected from the National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University, local innovation centers and well-known corporate elites. They evaluate the participating projects during the road show stage.

This hackathon is not only a display of technical competition, but also a testimony of Alibaba Cloud's ability to support developer innovation and problem-solving. Through close collaboration with the local community, Alibaba Cloud has not only bolstered its brand influence, but more importantly, it has infused vitality into the tech ecosystem of Singapore and the broader global community. It has fostered talent development and technical exchange, propelling progress in tech innovation.
