At the release conference for the "Ten Thousand Data Warehouses Program", Li Feifei (Feidao), the chief scientist at the Alibaba DAMO Academy and head of the Alibaba Cloud intelligent database department, discussed the trends in cloud-native technology, and Zhan Chaoqun (Lizhe), a researcher from his department, broke down the new features of AnalyticDB. In addition, Alibaba Cloud invited its customers to share their best practices with the new solution.
With the rapid advancement of digital technology, many enterprises are trying to drive business development and innovation by mining the value of data. Alibaba Cloud launched the "Ten Thousand Data Warehouses Program", a cloud-native data warehouse program to help enterprises build their own data warehouses, implement on-demand storage of data at a low cost, perform real-time online analysis, and gain business insights.

This lowers the costs of data warehouses, bringing them within the reach of more users.

According to IDC, data is currently undergoing qualitative changes and characterized by new features such as explosive growth, real-time processing, cloud-based storage, and diversification. These new developments require data warehouses that have new capabilities, including cloud native, real-time analysis, real-time computing, massive storage, and support for various computing scenarios. As the cloud-native data warehouse solution of Alibaba Cloud, AnalyticDB adopts a multi-replica architecture that separates storage and computing and supports real-time elastic scaling from one node to up to 5,000 nodes. It can store petabytes of data, respond to queries in seconds, and complete business analysis tasks that previously took days in minutes or even seconds. In addition, AnalyticDB is capable of the hybrid processing of offline tasks and the integrated analysis of structured and unstructured heterogeneous data. It also solved the problem of the exponential increase in management costs for large-scale systems.
According to the test results released this year by the authoritative database and big data performance evaluation organization TPC, AnalyticDB set a new world record in the TPC-DS 10TB benchmark test for complex analysis scenarios, outperforming other participants in the same category. The results for TPC-H, the benchmark test on mixed transaction and analysis loads, indicate that AnalyticDB set a new world record for TPC-H 30TB. AnalyticDB outperformed Microsoft SQL Server 2019, the second-place finisher, by 290%. At the same time, AnalyticDB is the only distributed database product that has been certified by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology through both the "Special Test on Fundamental Capabilities and Performance of Distributed Analytic Database" and the "Special Test on Fundamental Capabilities and Performance of Distributed Transaction Database".
Since its release in 2015, AnalyticDB has supported customers from industries including gaming, advertising, tourism, retail, finance, and digital government, helping them meet the needs of core scenarios including precision operations, precision marketing, and business analysis and insights. At the conference, two distinguished AnalyticDB customers, Jushuitan Network Technology and Tianhong Asset Management, shared their best practices with the solution. Jushuitan noted that its online consumer marketing and analysis report system, which is built on Alibaba Cloud AnalyticDB in a short time, establishes its core competitiveness in refined operations and is ten times more efficient than traditional platforms.
Tianhong Asset Management discussed its use of AnalyticDB for real-time data warehouses in asset management scenarios. Previously, it was becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and analyze user and business sales data in real time due to the company's introduction of microservices for sales services, the exponential growth of sales data, and the use of sub-databases and sub-tables for fund sales business data. By introducing AnalyticDB as their data warehouse, the customer can now respond to various needs, including operations, active marketing, and data analysis, in an effective, efficient, and economic way.
