    Quick start

    Simple Application Server provides Linux-based and Windows-based images.

    Before you begin, make sure that you have registered an Alibaba Cloud account and completed your profile.

    Linux

    1. Purchase a Simple Application Server instance

      When you create a Simple Application Server instance, you can flexibly configure parameters such as the instance type, image, region, quantity, and subscription duration.

    2. Connect to the instance

      • Workbench remote connection. On the console, click Remote Connection, select Connect via Workbench, and then click Log On Now to connect to and use the server as the Admin user without a password (Recommended).

      • Connect with an SSH client.

        Use an SSH client, such as PuTTY, XShell, or FinalShell, to connect to the instance as the root user with a password.

        Important

        Instances do not have a default password. Before you log on to an instance with a password for the first time, you must set or reset the server password.

      • Use rescue logon. If you cannot connect to your instance with Workbench or a third-party remote connection tool such as PuTTY or Xshell, you can use the rescue connection (VNC) to troubleshoot the issue.

    Windows

    1. Purchase a Simple Application Server instance

      When you create a Simple Application Server instance, you can flexibly configure parameters such as the instance type, image, region, quantity, and subscription duration.

    2. Connect to the instance

      1. Use a remote connection. After you purchase a Simple Application Server instance that runs Windows, click Reset Password in the console to set a password for the Administrator user. Then, click Remote Connection in the console or use a Remote Desktop client to connect to the instance with the password.

        Important

        Instances do not have a default password. Before you log on to an instance with a password for the first time, you must set or reset the server password.

      2. Use rescue logon. If you cannot connect to your instance with Workbench or a Remote Desktop client, you can use the rescue connection (VNC) to troubleshoot the issue.

    You can unsubscribe from a Simple Application Server instance after purchase. Alibaba Cloud refunds your payment based on the unsubscription rules. For more information, see Unsubscribe from a server.
