Smart Access Gateway (SAG) 100WM connects small-scale private networks to Alibaba Cloud over the Internet or a leased line. Follow the steps in this guide to complete the end-to-end deployment, from receiving the physical device to verifying connectivity in the SAG console.

100WM process

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • An SAG-100WM device (purchased from the SAG console or a third-party vendor). After you place an order, the device ships within two business days, and the system automatically creates an SAG instance to manage it.

  • A Cloud Connect Network (CCN) instance or a virtual border router (VBR), depending on whether you connect over the Internet or a leased line

  • Network access to your private network during on-site installation

Deploy the device

Step 1: Connect the device to your private network

Mount and cable the SAG-100WM device at your site. For port layout, LED indicators, and hardware specifications, see Descriptions of SAG-100WM.

Step 2: Activate the device and associate it with the SAG instance

Power on the device and activate it through the SAG console. Then bind the physical device to the SAG instance that was created when you placed the order. See Activate an SAG device device, you must activate it.") and Add a device device in the SAG console to associate the device with the SAG instance. You can manage SAG devices in the SAG console.").

Step 3: Configure the device in the web console

Log in to the local SAG web console to set up WAN, LAN, and other network parameters. The configuration steps use SAG-100WM version 2.0.3 as an example. See Configure SAG-100WM in the web console device to connect private networks to Alibaba Cloud, you can configure the device in the Alibaba Cloud SAG console. Alternatively, you can log on to the local SAG web console to configure the device. This topic takes SAG-100WM version 2.0.3 as an example.").

Step 4: Advertise routes to Alibaba Cloud

Configure routing synchronization between the SAG device and your local terminal so that traffic from your private network reaches Alibaba Cloud. See Advertise routes to Alibaba Cloud device and a local terminal in the SAG console.").

Step 5: Associate the SAG instance with a network

Connect the SAG instance to Alibaba Cloud through one of the following methods:

  • Internet connection: Associate the SAG instance with a CCN instance. After association, the SAG instance can communicate with Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networks and VBRs attached to the CCN instance. See Associate with an SAG instance instance is associated with a Cloud Connect Network \(CCN\) instance, the SAG instance can communicate with Virtual Private Cloud \(VPC\) networks and virtual border routers \(VBRs\) associated with the CCN instance.").

  • Leased line: Associate the SAG instance with a VBR. See Attach a network allows you to connect a private network to Alibaba Cloud through a leased line, Internet connection, or both. If you choose to use a leased line, you must associate the SAG instance with a virtual border router \(VBR\). If you choose to use an Internet connection, you must associate the SAG instance with a Cloud Connect Network \(CCN\) instance.").

Step 6: Verify connectivity

In the SAG console, check the connectivity status to confirm that the deployment was successful.
