This topic describes the costs that arise from using different features in various scenarios.
If you use DataWorks Standard Edition or a later version, you must also pay the corresponding software edition fees.
DataWorks does not charge both task scheduling fees and fees for exclusive resource groups for scheduling. If you use an exclusive resource group for scheduling, task scheduling fees are not charged.
Data Integration scenario costs
Customers in the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) can request a fee waiver for eligible use cases under EU Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 (the Data Act). For more information, contact us through the Support and Services team.
The following costs are related to Data Integration and operations and maintenance (O&M):
DataWorks charges (costs appear on DataWorks bills)
Resource group fees: Data synchronization tasks depend on resource groups. Depending on the resource group type, you incur either Serverless resource group fees or fees for exclusive resource groups for Data Integration.
If you use a large model service for intelligent data processing during synchronization, you also incur Serverless resource group fees.
Task scheduling fees: If you publish a sync task to the production environment for scheduled execution, you incur task scheduling fees (when using a Serverless resource group) or fees for exclusive resource groups for scheduling (when using an exclusive resource group).
Data Quality fees: If you configure quality monitoring for a periodic task and an instance is successfully triggered, you incur Data Quality instance fees.
Smart baseline fees: If you configure a smart baseline for a periodic task, you incur smart baseline instance fees for baselines that are in the enabling status.
Alert text message and phone call fees: If you configure alert monitoring for a sync task and a text message or phone call is successfully triggered, you incur alert text message and phone call fees.
NoteThese costs are associated with the Data Integration, Data Development, and Operation Center modules.
Charges from other services (costs do not appear on DataWorks bills)
When you run a data integration task, you may incur additional costs related to your sync task configurations that are not charged by DataWorks. Examples include database fees for synchronizing input and output data, compute and storage fees for the compute engine, network service fees such as Express Connect, Internet Shared Bandwidth, or elastic IP addresses (EIPs), and large model fees for Alibaba Cloud Model Studio or PAI when used for intelligent data processing.
NoteWhen you use an exclusive resource group for Data Integration, data transfer costs are charged by DataWorks.
Data Development scenario costs
The following costs may arise from Data Development and O&M:
DataWorks charges (costs appear on DataWorks bills)
Resource group fees: Node development and personal developer environments require resource groups. Depending on the resource group type, you incur either Serverless resource group fees or fees for exclusive resource groups for scheduling.
If you use a large model service, you also incur Serverless resource group fees.
Task scheduling fees: If you publish a task to the production environment for scheduled execution, you incur task scheduling fees (when using a Serverless resource group) or fees for exclusive resource groups for scheduling (when using an exclusive resource group).
Alert text message and phone call fees: If you configure alert monitoring for a periodic task and a text message or phone call is successfully triggered, you incur alert text message and phone call fees.
NoteThese costs are associated with the Data Development, Data Quality, and Operation Center modules.
Charges from other services (costs do not appear on DataWorks bills)
When you run a Data Development node task, you may incur compute engine and storage fees, such as OSS storage fees. These fees are not charged by DataWorks.
Data Analysis scenario costs
The following costs may arise from using DataAnalysis:
DataWorks charges (costs appear on DataWorks bills)
Resource group fees: When you run an SQL query analysis task or download query results, you incur either Serverless resource group fees or fees for exclusive resource groups for scheduling.
Enhanced analysis fees: When you create cards or reports for visual analytics of SQL query results, you incur enhanced analysis fees.
Charges from other services (costs do not appear on DataWorks bills)
When you run a DataAnalysis node task, you may incur compute engine and storage fees. These fees are not charged by DataWorks.
DataService Studio scenario costs
The following costs may arise from using DataService Studio:
Resource group fees: A resource group is required when you generate and call an API. You use quota management for the resource group to configure the number of Compute Units (CUs) that DataService Studio can use. This usage incurs either Serverless resource group fees or fees for exclusive resource groups for DataService Studio.
ImportantRegardless of whether the DataService Studio API is called, if you allocate CUs to DataService Studio, the allocated CU quota is continuously occupied and incurs fees.

Task scheduling fees: When you use Data Push, you incur task scheduling fees. The number of billable instances is based on the number of push instances.
FAQ
Q: How can I estimate or view the CU consumption of an SQL query task?
A: This depends on the compute engine you use.
For the MaxCompute engine: A pre-run cost estimation feature is available. Before you execute an SQL statement, you can click the Estimate Cost button to view the estimated cost, as shown in the following figure. This feature helps you control costs.

For other compute engines such as Hologres and EMR, pre-run cost estimation is not currently supported in DataWorks.
Q: How can I estimate or view the CU consumption of a node task run?
A: Cost estimation is supported only for MaxCompute SQL tasks. For other node types, you can estimate the CU consumption, but the actual runtime varies based on task complexity.
