To enable inter-region communication between network instances, use a subscription bandwidth plan to allocate a fixed amount of bandwidth for an inter-region connection. Bandwidth plans are suitable for long-running services with stable peak traffic, such as file transfers, data migration, and data synchronization. To use a bandwidth plan, you must first purchase one and then associate it with an inter-region connection.
Background
When purchasing a bandwidth plan, you must specify the connected areas. An area is a collection of Alibaba Cloud regions. Select the connected areas for a bandwidth plan based on the regions that you want to connect. The following table describes the relationship between areas and regions.
Area | Region |
Chinese mainland | China (Qingdao), China (Beijing), China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hohhot), China (Ulanqab), China (Shenzhen), China (Heyuan), China (Guangzhou), China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Nanjing - Local Region), China (Fuzhou - Local Region), and China (Chengdu) |
North America | US (Silicon Valley) and US (Virginia) |
Asia Pacific | China (Hong Kong), Singapore (Singapore), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Japan (Tokyo), Indonesia (Jakarta), Philippines (Manila), South Korea (Seoul), and Thailand (Bangkok) |
Europe | Germany (Frankfurt) and UK (London) |
Billing
Bandwidth plans are subscription-based and a prepaid service that is billed monthly. For more information, see Billing.
Limits
You can attach multiple bandwidth plans to a CEN instance. However, the pair of connected areas specified by each bandwidth plan must be unique.
For example, if a CEN instance is attached to a bandwidth plan that connects networks in the Chinese mainland, you cannot attach another bandwidth plan that also connects networks in the Chinese mainland. However, you can attach a bandwidth plan that connects the Chinese mainland to North America.
A bandwidth plan can be attached to only one CEN instance.
You cannot modify the connected areas after purchase.
Prerequisites
To purchase a bandwidth plan that involves regions in the Chinese mainland using an Alibaba Cloud international site account, you must complete enterprise identity verification for your account. For more information, see identity verification.
Bandwidth plans that involve regions in the Chinese mainland include the following:
Bandwidth plans that connect areas within the Chinese mainland
Bandwidth plans that connect an area in the Chinese mainland to an area outside the Chinese mainland

Detach a bandwidth plan
A bandwidth plan is automatically attached to a CEN instance by default. You can detach a bandwidth plan from a CEN instance and attach it to another CEN instance.
Before detaching, you must delete the inter-region connections that are associated with the bandwidth plan. For more information, see Delete an inter-region connection.
Log on to the CEN console.
On the Instances page, click the ID of the CEN instance that you want to manage.
On the details page of the CEN instance, click the tab. Find the bandwidth plan that you want to detach and click Disassociate in the Actions column.
In the Disassociate from Bandwidth Plan dialog box, confirm the bandwidth plan information and click OK.
You are still charged after a bandwidth plan is detached. Billing stops only when the bandwidth plan is deleted. For more information, see Delete a bandwidth plan.
Attach a bandwidth plan
You can attach a detached bandwidth plan to a CEN instance.
Log on to the CEN console.
On the Instances page, click the ID of the CEN instance that you want to manage.
On the CEN instance details page, click the tab. Find the bandwidth plan that you want to attach and click Associate in the Actions column.
