This project is from team Devwork, which was awarded with the Innovation Award in the PolarDB Global Hackathon 2023.
Devwork is a web application platform that unites developers, workers, freelancers, skilled individuals, and ordinary people to collaborate with each other for mutual benefits. You can contribute to this application by posting anything you want, or by being a skilled developer and working with everyone.
Devwork engages with small to large businesses to improve the quality of their production or sales. It provides optimal tools to collaborate with everyone and gives SMEs (Small Medium Enterprises) an opportunity to thrive. Users can earn new skills from their experiences and from other people, and the platform offers earning potential for those with hard skills and communication skills.
Therefore, the target market for this application is everyone, as it addresses people's personal needs and the needs of many others.
This application uses the concept of social media posting, where all users can view the wishes of clients. This allows us to benefit by undertaking tasks or projects requested by clients.
Anyone can get a job without having specific degrees or requirements, as long as they demonstrate the required trust and skills to work with clients.
This project requires data management that can handle thousands to millions of data requests in a short amount of time, as all users may be accessing and processing data on a global scale. PolarDB for MySQL is able to solve all of these problems. I use PolarDB for MySQL's Geo-Redundancy GDN engine feature because the DevWork application is likely to be used globally. The Global Database Network (GDN) feature allows for multiple clusters to run on the same database, preventing a server crash or data loss during an unexpected incident. I also use this feature to enable users in different regions to access their nearest cluster, rather than a single point node, resulting in faster data processing.
