You can transfer files between a cloud computer and an on-premises device using third-party file transfer tools, or using the built-in features of Alibaba Cloud Workspace for convenient file transfers, such as disk mapping, the clipboard, the file transfer module, and the file migration tool. Elastic Desktop Service Enterprise also supports file transfer approval and file transfer auditing.
This topic uses the macOS client V7.13 and the Enterprise Edition as an example. If your experience differs from the description in this topic, you may be using a different client or an outdated version. Upgrade to the latest version.
Prerequisites
You have logged on to the desktop client. For more information, see Log on to a desktop client.
You have been assigned a cloud computer. If no cloud computer is available after you log on, contact your IT administrator to have one assigned to you. For more information, see Assign cloud computers to users.
Transfer files
Method 1: Transfer files using disk mapping
Background information
Disk mapping maps a disk on your on-premises device to a disk on the cloud computer. This lets you access the local disk data from the cloud computer. Disk mapping supports the following policies:
Read-only: Allows you to view and copy data from the local disk on the cloud computer, but not modify it.
Disable: Blocks access to the local disk from the cloud computer.
Read/Write: Allows you to view, copy, and modify the local disk data from the cloud computer.
Prerequisites
The cloud computer runs a Windows operating system.
The connection to the cloud computer is established from a Windows client or a macOS client.
The disk mapping policy specified in the policy associated with the cloud computer is set to Read/Write or Read-only.
For desktop client version 7.13 or later and cloud computer image version 2.12 or later, the copy permission specified in the associated policy must be set to Allow Copy from Local Device to Cloud Computer. This permission is required to copy files from the mapped local disk to the cloud computer.
Procedure
In the cloud computer, open the mapped local device disk. Cut, copy, or paste files directly.
Method 2: Transfer files using the clipboard
Prerequisites
The connection to the cloud computer is established from a Windows client (version 7.3 or later).
The clipboard control rule in the policy associated with the cloud computer must allow transfers in the required direction. For example, to transfer files from an on-premises device to the cloud computer using the clipboard, the clipboard control rule must be set to Allow Two-way Copy or Allow Copy from Local Device to Cloud Computer.
Procedure
Cut or copy a file or folder, and then paste it in the destination. You can use keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+V) or the context menu commands to cut, copy, and paste.
Method 3: Transfer files using the file transfer module
To transfer large files or many files, you can use the file transfer module in the DesktopAssistant. This allows the transfer to run in the backend. You can check the transfer status and progress at any time on the File Transfer panel.
Prerequisites
The connection is established from a Windows client or macOS client (version 7.4 or later).
The cloud computer image version is version 2.1.0 or later. For information about how to update the image version, see Upgrade the components of a cloud computer.
To use the full-speed transfer mode, one of the following conditions must be met:
The administrator sets Full-speed Transfer Mode to Managed by Administrator and enables Full-speed Transfer in the policy associated with the cloud computer. In this mode, end users cannot disable the full-speed transfer mode.
The administrator sets Full-speed Transfer Mode to Customized by End User in the policy associated with the cloud computer. In this mode, end users can enable or disable the full-speed transfer mode on their own.
For more information, see Security-related rules.
Procedure
In the cloud computer, open the DesktopAssistant and click File Transfer.
In the upper-right corner of the File Transfer panel, click Add. Then, select Upload to Cloud Computer or Download to Local Device. You can choose to upload or download a file or a folder.
NoteBy default, upload and download speeds are limited. To remove this limit, click Preferences and turn on Full-Speed Transfer. The full-speed transfer mode may affect the smoothness and stability of operations in the cloud computer. Use this feature with caution.

In the file selection window, select the file or folder to upload or download, and click Open.
Transferred files are saved to the Downloads folder on the cloud computer or the on-premises device.
Next steps
View file transfer records: On the File Transfer panel, click the Upload to Cloud Computer or Download to Local Device tab to view detailed records of file uploads and downloads.
Find transferred files: To the right of a file transfer record, click the icon to open the folder that contains the transferred file.
Delete file transfer records: To the right of a file transfer record, click the icon to delete the record. The transferred file is not deleted.
Method 4: Transfer files using the file migration tool
To transfer many files, you can use the file migration tool in the file transfer module. This tool is ideal for migrating a large volume of files from an on-premises device to a cloud computer at one time.
Prerequisites
The connection is established from a Windows client or macOS client (version 7.4 or later).
The cloud computer image version is version 2.1.0 or later. For information about how to update the image version, see Upgrade the components of a cloud computer.
The administrator has enabled Data Migration Tool in the policy associated with the cloud computer. For more information, see DesktopAssistant-related rules.
Procedure
In the cloud computer, open the DesktopAssistant and click File Transfer.
In the upper-right corner of the File Transfer panel, click File Migration.

In the dialog box, select a migration mode:
Quick Migrate: Copies only the data from the Documents folder on the user disk to the cloud computer.
Manually Select Files: Copies the data from all selected folders to the cloud computer.

After you select a migration mode and complete the subsequent steps, click Start Migrate.
Change the default save path for uploaded files
By default, files uploaded to the cloud computer are saved to the Downloads folder in the user directory. You can change this default save path.
Prerequisites
The connection is established from a Windows client or macOS client (version 7.13 or later).
Procedure
In the cloud computer, open the DesktopAssistant and click File Transfer.
In the upper-right corner of the File Transfer panel, click Preferences.
In the Preferences dialog box, click Change and select a new default save path.

File transfer auditing
EDS Enterprise administrators can view the operation records of all data transfers between cloud computers and on-premises devices in the console.
Prerequisites
The connection is established from a Windows client or macOS client (version 7.12 or later).
View audit records as an EDS Enterprise administrator
Log on to the Elastic Desktop Service Enterprise console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the upper-left corner of the top navigation bar, select a region.
