Elastic Desktop Service:Assign users to cloud computers

Last Updated:Mar 26, 2026

End users can connect to and access a cloud computer only after they are assigned to it. You can assign users during or after you create a cloud computer. This topic describes how to assign users to a cloud computer after it is created and how to view currently assigned users.

Background

Cloud computers and users have a many-to-many relationship. You can assign multiple users to a single cloud computer, and you can assign multiple cloud computers to a single user.

Note
  • If a cloud computer is assigned to multiple users, only one user can connect at a time. Another user cannot preempt an active session. Other assigned users can connect only after the current user disconnects.

  • Due to system latency, it may take a moment for the latest assignment information to appear after you add a user. If an end user receives an error indicating that no cloud computer is assigned, ask them to wait a moment and try again.

Prerequisites

Assign a user to a single cloud computer

  1. Log on to the Elastic Desktop Service Enterprise console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Cloud Computers page, find the desired cloud computer, click More in the Actions column, and then select View/Add User.

  5. In the View/Add User panel, click Add User.

  6. In the Add User dialog box, select one or more users to assign and click OK.

    Note

The added users appear in the Added Users list. To remove a user, select the target user, click Remove, and then click OK in the confirmation dialog box.

Batch assign cloud computers to users

Note

In a single region, you can select up to 500 cloud computers and 500 users for a batch assignment.

By single user

You can assign multiple cloud computers to a single user in one operation.

  1. Log on to the Elastic Desktop Service Enterprise console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resources > Cloud Computers.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the Cloud Computers page, click Batch Assign.

  4. On the Batch Assign page, in the Account Type section, select the account type for the end users.

    • If you select AD Account, you must also select an AD domain from the AD Domain drop-down list.

    • If you do not have an office network that is based on enterprise AD accounts, the account type defaults to Convenience Account and this option cannot be changed.

  5. In the Select Users section, select a user to assign.

  6. In the Select Cloud Computers section, select one or more cloud computers to assign.

You can search for cloud computers by properties such as cloud computer name, cloud computer ID, or office network ID. You can also filter the list by table columns, such as region, specification, or status.

  7. In the lower-left corner of the page, click View Assignment Result. Confirm the selected cloud computers and the user, and then click OK.

By multiple users

When you batch assign multiple cloud computers to multiple users, you do not need to explicitly map each cloud computer to a specific user.

  5. In the Select Users section, select multiple users to assign.

  6. In the Select Cloud Computers section, select one or more cloud computers to assign.

You can search for cloud computers by properties such as cloud computer name, cloud computer ID, or office network ID. You can also filter the list by table columns, such as region, specification, or status.

  7. In the How to Assign section, select an assignment method and an assignment policy to use when the number of cloud computers and users is unequal.

    Assignment method

    Assignment policy

    Cloud computer-prioritized

Automatically assigns users to each cloud computer. You must set the number of users to assign.

Example: The Users per Cloud Computer is set to 2. You need to assign 8 users to 5 cloud computers. The following figures show the assignment results based on different policies.

    • Each cloud computer must have a user

The system first assigns one user to each cloud computer. It then continues to assign the remaining users sequentially, starting again from the first cloud computer, until all users are assigned.

    • A cloud computer is assigned to the specified number of users

The system assigns users to one cloud computer at a time until it reaches the specified user limit, then moves to the next cloud computer. This process continues until all users are assigned.
