Service Catalog:Manage multi-account sharing

Use cases

As your organization grows, managing Service Catalog settings across many business accounts becomes complex and error-prone. You can use the multi-account structure of Resource Directory and the capabilities of Resource Sharing to share a product portfolio from a central account with other accounts. Configuration changes are then synchronized in real time, which greatly improves management efficiency.

Before you begin

• Set up a multi-account structure in Resource Directory and add your organization's business accounts for centralized management.

• As a security best practice, add a delegated administrator account for Service Catalog. Use this account to share or stop sharing product portfolios.

• In the delegated administrator account, create the product portfolio that you want to share.

  For more information, see Create a product portfolio.

Share a product portfolio

Use the delegated administrator account to share a product portfolio with principals.

1. Sign in to the Service Catalog console.
2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Administrator > Portfolio management.
3. On the Portfolio management page, click the name of the product portfolio.
4. Click the Share tab.
5. Click Add portfolio to resource share.
6. In the Add portfolio to resource share panel, select a resource share and add principals.
   • If a resource share already exists, select it. You can also click Edit to add or remove principals.
   • If no resource share exists, click Create to create a new resource share and add principals. For more information, see Create a resource share.
7. Click Confirm.

View shared product portfolios

Principals can view and use the product portfolios shared with them.

1. Sign in to the Service Catalog console.
2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Administrator > Portfolio management.
3. On the Portfolio management page, click the Share imported tab to view the product portfolios shared with you.

Stop sharing a product portfolio

Use the delegated administrator account to remove a shared product portfolio or principals.

1. Sign in to the Resource Management console.
2. Remove the shared product portfolio.
