You may encounter some common problems when you use Cloud Drive for Enterprises (CDE). In order to help you better understand and use the features of CDE, we have compiled topics that cover key problems and solutions related to CDE. The following is a list of the topics.
How to scale up
CDE provides two methods for you to upgrade and renew: PDS console and CDE management console. For more information, see How to scale up.
How to set permissions
CDE provides the permissions to modify the enterprise space, team space, and specific folders. This helps you manage file sharing and security within your enterprise in a more efficient manner. For more information, see How to set permissions.
Correspondence of the permissions for a mounted drive
Permissions granted by CDE are corresponding to the permissions on the shared files and folders in a mounted drive on a local operating system, such as Windows and macOS. The topic describes the relationship between the permissions of the 12 roles in CDE and the permissions of a mounted drive. The permissions include the permissions to view, upload, download, and edit folders and files. The topic also describes the correspondence of the permissions of a mounted drive to custom permissions. This way, enterprise users can learn how to configure the permissions of a mounted drive, ensuring data security and facilitating data management. For more information, see Correspondence of the permissions for a mounted drive.
Differences between enterprise space and team space
The topic describes the main differences between enterprise space and team space in CDE. An enterprise space is the exclusive space for an enterprise. By default, an enterprise space is created after you purchase CDE. It is used to store all files that users can view, such as employee handbooks. A team space is created by an administrator based on the organizational structure. It is used to store the documents of a specific department and provides more fine-grained management. The topic also describes how to modify the space size and permissions. This helps enterprise users to understand and optimize cloud storage management. For more information, see Differences between enterprise workspace and team workspace.
How an external user uploads files by using a shared link
CDE allows an external user to upload files by using a shared link. To do so, use the Allow Upload option to create a shared link. Users outside the enterprise can use this link to upload files. This way, you can easily collaborate with external users. This feature is especially suitable for scenarios where your internal users need to collaborate with external partners on file management, enhancing the flexibility and convenience of file management. For more information, see How an external user uploads files by using a shared link.
How to access PDS Developer Edition from the CDE logon page
The topic describes how to access PDS Developer Edition from the CDE logon page. On the page for logging on to CDE, you can select Enterprise-dedicated Logon, enter your domain ID for PDS Developer Edition, and then log on to PDS Developer Edition by using your PDS Developer Edition account. This allows you to easily log on to PDS Developer Edition and use more customized features. It is especially useful for users who require the flexibility to switch between CDE and PDS Developer Edition. For more information, see How to access developer edition from Enterprise Edition logon page.
Differences between a super administrator, a drive administrator, and a team administrator
CDE has three administrator roles: super administrator, drive administrator, and team administrator. The topic describes the permission scope and functions of each role, including the global management permissions of a super administrator, the management permissions of a drive administrator (except role switching), and the management permissions of a team administrator in a team. By reading the topic, you can learn how to configure and switch between these roles to optimize drive management for your enterprise. For more information, see Differences between a super administrator, a drive administrator, and a team administrator.
Why the expiration time is not updated in the CDE desktop client after renewal
After you renew the CDE desktop client, the expiration time displayed in the client may not be updated immediately. This may be because that the system is processing bills. You can wait for a period of time and then log on to the client again to check the expiration time that is displayed. The topic also describes how to contact technical support for troubleshooting if the problem persists. For more information, see Why the expiration time is not updated in the CDE desktop client after renewal.
