DataWorks charges across four categories: a software subscription for platform features, resource group fees for running tasks, scheduling instance fees based on task volume, and usage-based fees for add-on services.
Compute and storage costs from underlying engines — such as MaxCompute, Hologres, and E-MapReduce (EMR) — are billed directly by those services, not by DataWorks. Plan for these costs separately when estimating total spend.

Purchasing a DataWorks edition unlocks platform features only. Resource consumption from running tasks is billed separately under resource group fees and scheduling instance fees.
Software fees
Software fees cover your DataWorks edition subscription. The edition determines which platform features are available to your workspace.

Resource group fees
Resource group fees are the core costs for executing tasks in DataWorks — including data integration, scheduling, and DataService Studio tasks.
Use serverless resource groups for all new workloads.

Scheduling instance fees
Scheduling instance fees apply when you use serverless resource groups or shared resource groups to run scheduled tasks. A daily free quota is included; charges apply only to successful instances that exceed the quota.

Other fees

Third-party engine fees
DataWorks orchestrates and submits tasks but does not perform the underlying computation or storage. The engines that process your data bill you directly.
