This topic describes how to view the bill details for each billable item in DataWorks.
We recommend that you read DataWorks billing overview to understand the overall billing logic.
Usage notes
The Alibaba Cloud billing system aggregates bills by region. Therefore, you cannot view or analyze costs for a single DataWorks workspace or a specific user.
If a workspace is inactive for an extended period, it may still incur charges. For more information, see Appendix: Reasons for charges on inactive workspaces.
View purchased resources and services
Click Purchased Resources and Services to view your activated DataWorks services by region.

View bill details
Only Alibaba Cloud accounts and Resource Access Management (RAM) users with the AliyunBSSFullAccess permission have access. For more information about how to grant permissions, see Grant permissions to a RAM role.
Click Bill Details to open the Bill Details page in Expenses and Costs.
If you are accustomed to the previous version, you can switch to the old Bill Details page. This topic describes the procedure for the new Bill Details page only.
Select Bill Generation Date. Then, set Product Name to DataWorks and select Commodity Name to search for the corresponding bill.
Understanding bill details
DataWorks supports two billing methods: pay-as-you-go and subscription.
Category | Description |
Pay-as-you-go | Within each region, charges are consolidated by the category of the pay-as-you-go billing item, such as the number of Data Quality check instances. Bills cannot be broken down by workspace. |
Subscription | In each region, billing is based on the number of subscription services purchased. Each subscription instance is treated as a separate billing item in the billing system.
|
The following table describes the bill details.
Component | Description |
Bill Generation Date | You can query bill details for a specified date range, either By Month or By Day. DataWorks aggregates statistics at the billing instance level. |
Billing entries | The number of entries depends on the relationship between billable items and billing instances.
|
Instance ID | Billing instances are generated based on the billable item and region.
|
Billing Item Name | For more information about each billable item, see Billing overview. |
Appendix: Reasons why inactive workspaces may incur charges
DataWorks supports both pay-as-you-go and subscription billing methods. If your workspace is inactive for a long period, you may still incur charges for the following reasons:
Pay-as-you-go: You may incur charges for scheduled tasks that are still running. Even in an inactive workspace, these tasks consume resources, such as instances of shared resource groups for scheduling and baseline instances, which are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. If you do not plan to use the workspace in the short term, disable the workspace.
NoteAfter you disable a workspace, recurring scheduling tasks no longer generate recurring instances. However, the engine resources still exist and may incur storage fees. These fees are charged by the engine service and are not included in your DataWorks bills. For more information about the billing rules of an engine, see the documentation of the engine.
Subscription: If you purchase a subscription service and enable auto-renewal, you are charged for the service at the end of each subscription period. To stop these charges, make sure that you have disabled auto-renewal. For more information, see Stop billing.
