DataWorks:View bill details

Last Updated:Nov 27, 2025

This topic describes how to view the bill details for each billable item in DataWorks.

Important

We recommend that you read DataWorks billing overview to understand the overall billing logic.

Usage notes

  • The Alibaba Cloud billing system aggregates bills by region. Therefore, you cannot view or analyze costs for a single DataWorks workspace or a specific user.

  • If a workspace is inactive for an extended period, it may still incur charges. For more information, see Appendix: Reasons for charges on inactive workspaces.

View purchased resources and services

Click Purchased Resources and Services to view your activated DataWorks services by region.

Understanding bill details

DataWorks supports two billing methods: pay-as-you-go and subscription.

Category

Description

Pay-as-you-go

Within each region, charges are consolidated by the category of the pay-as-you-go billing item, such as the number of Data Quality check instances. Bills cannot be broken down by workspace.

Subscription

In each region, billing is based on the number of subscription services purchased. Each subscription instance is treated as a separate billing item in the billing system.

  • General-purpose resource groups, exclusive resource groups for scheduling, exclusive resource groups for Data Integration, and exclusive resource groups for DataService Studio are billed based on the number of resource groups. Each resource group is a separate billing item in the billing system.

  • DataWorks Standard Edition, Professional Edition, and Enterprise Edition are billed on a per-region basis.

The following table describes the bill details.

Component

Description

Bill Generation Date

You can query bill details for a specified date range, either By Month or By Day. DataWorks aggregates statistics at the billing instance level.

Billing entries

The number of entries depends on the relationship between billable items and billing instances.

  • Pay-as-you-go items are charged by region, not by workspace. Therefore, a separate billing instance is generated for each type of pay-as-you-go billable item in each region.

  • DataWorks advanced editions are activated by region. Therefore, a separate billing instance is generated for each subscription-based advanced edition in the same region.

  • Subscription resource groups are charged based on the number of resource groups that you purchase in each region. Each resource group is a separate billable item in the billing system. A one-to-many relationship exists between subscription-based exclusive resource group billable items and billing instances.

Instance ID

Billing instances are generated based on the billable item and region.

  • Number of pay-as-you-go billing instances: In each region, a separate billing instance is generated for each type of pay-as-you-go (post-paid) billable item. Each category is a separate entry.

For example, pay-as-you-go services such as shared resource groups for scheduling, the number of baseline instances, the usage of alert phone calls, and the number of Data Quality checks are separate billable items in the billing system. DataWorks aggregates usage at the tenant level across all workspaces. Therefore, each type of pay-as-you-go billable item becomes a separate billing instance in the billing system.

  • Number of subscription billing instances:

    • DataWorks Standard Edition, Professional Edition, and Enterprise Edition are activated by region. Therefore, a separate billing instance is generated for each edition in the same region.

    • Subscription services are charged based on the number of resource groups that you purchase in each region. Each subscription service that an Alibaba Cloud account purchases becomes a separate billing instance in the billing system.

Billing Item Name

For more information about each billable item, see Billing overview.

Appendix: Reasons why inactive workspaces may incur charges

DataWorks supports both pay-as-you-go and subscription billing methods. If your workspace is inactive for a long period, you may still incur charges for the following reasons:

  • Pay-as-you-go: You may incur charges for scheduled tasks that are still running. Even in an inactive workspace, these tasks consume resources, such as instances of shared resource groups for scheduling and baseline instances, which are billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. If you do not plan to use the workspace in the short term, disable the workspace.image

    Note

After you disable a workspace, recurring scheduling tasks no longer generate recurring instances. However, the engine resources still exist and may incur storage fees. These fees are charged by the engine service and are not included in your DataWorks bills. For more information about the billing rules of an engine, see the documentation of the engine.

  • Subscription: If you purchase a subscription service and enable auto-renewal, you are charged for the service at the end of each subscription period. To stop these charges, make sure that you have disabled auto-renewal. For more information, see Stop billing.
