DataWorks charges across five categories:
Software fees: Edition subscription fees that unlock platform features.
Resource group fees: Fees for resource groups that run your tasks.
Scheduling instance fees: Scheduling fees incurred by running tasks.
Data Agent fees: Fees for AI-enhanced data development capabilities, billed through seat-based subscriptions and pay-as-you-go as two independent billing methods.
Other fees: Overage fees for services such as Data Quality and intelligent monitoring.
In addition, compute and storage costs from underlying engines such as MaxCompute are billed separately.
Creating a DataWorks workspace does not incur any charges by itself. Fees are incurred only when you use specific features, such as running tasks or using resource groups.
I. Software fees
Purchasing a DataWorks edition unlocks platform features only. Resource consumption from running tasks is billed separately.
Software fees are the fixed costs for using features of a specific DataWorks edition, typically paid as a subscription. They unlock different levels of platform capabilities.

II. Resource group fees
Resource group fees are the core costs incurred when you run tasks (such as data synchronization and task scheduling) on DataWorks.

III. Scheduling instance fees

Appendix: Third-party service fees
DataWorks is a task development and scheduling platform that orchestrates and submits tasks. The actual data computation and storage are performed by underlying compute engines such as MaxCompute, Hologres, and EMR.
Therefore, your total data development costs include the following independently billed components:
Compute fees: Charged by compute engines such as MaxCompute and E-MapReduce based on the complexity and duration of the SQL or MapReduce tasks you run.
Storage fees: Charged by storage services such as MaxCompute and OSS based on the volume of data you store.
These fees are not charged by DataWorks. They are charged separately by the respective third-party service providers.
