This topic describes the advanced features of Compute Nest and provides reference documents to help service providers quickly find and flexibly use the required advanced features.
1. Configuration change feature
Compute Nest configuration change
Prerequisites: Service providers define the types and ranges of parameters that can be changed.
Description: Configuration changes refer to the modification of cloud resources, which allows users to dynamically modify the resource configurations, such as parameters, packages, or networks, for created service instances to adapt to changing business requirements.
Alibaba Cloud Marketplace configuration change
This feature is the same as the Compute Nest configuration change feature and allows you to change additional billing items and package versions in Alibaba Cloud Marketplace. You must enable the Compute Nest configuration change feature before you use this feature.
For more information, see Overview of configuration change.
2. Upgrade feature
The upgrade provides software updates. When service providers release new versions of services, users can upgrade software to new versions to obtain new features or fix issues. For more information about the service upgrade, see Overview.
3. Free trial feature
Compute Nest free trial
Prerequisites: Service providers must apply to become the certified Compute Nest service providers.
Scenarios: This feature is suitable for private services. The resource consumption costs during the trial period are covered by Alibaba Cloud, without the need for charging users or service providers.
For more information, see Use a private service that supports free trial.
4. Hosted O&M feature
Scenarios: When Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances on which private services are deployed encounter errors, service providers can connect to the ECS instances to perform O&M operations.
Benefits: The entire process is recorded in videos, which ensures operational transparency and trust between the two parties.
For more information, see Enable the hosted O&M feature for a private service.
5. Custom O&M operations
When you create a service, you can customize an O&M template and the O&M page based on your service attributes, which helps users maintain service instances. For more information, see Configure custom O&M operations.
6. Parameter set feature
Concept: Complex parameters are combined into a predefined parameter set to reduce configuration complexity.
Benefits: Service providers can offer best-practice configurations for different scenarios.
For more information, see Configure parameter sets.
7. Parameter mapping feature
In fully managed services, if dependencies between parameters exist and you want to set fixed values for specific parameters in specific conditions, you can use the parameter mapping feature. Compute Nest automatically applies the specified parameter values when service instances are created based on the preset conditions. For more information, see Configure parameter mappings.
8. Private network connection feature
Network connectivity can be implemented by using virtual private cloud (VPC) peering connections (VpcPeering) or private access (PrivateLink). For more information, see Configure VPC access for a service.
9. Log management feature
This feature supports service instance-level log collection and auditing, the query of operation records and internal application logs, and assists with fault diagnostics and monitoring. For more information about log management, see Overview.
10. Monitoring and alert features
Monitoring: You can manage cross-service and cross-region resource groups. You also can manage alert rules and monitoring data for resources such as servers, databases, and storage devices in a centralized manner to improve operations efficiency.
Alert: Alert notifications are triggered if metrics meet conditions. You can monitor the thresholds, events, group processes, and availability.
For more information, see Overview of monitoring and alerting.
