Chat App Message Service:Send Instagram messages

Send messages and interact with users through your Instagram professional account.

Prerequisites

  • You have created and connected an Instagram professional account. For more information, see Connect to an Instagram professional account.

  • You have created an Instagram message template. For more information, see Design an Instagram message template.

  • A user has sent a message to your Instagram professional account.

    Note
    • Conversations must be initiated by the user. You cannot send the first message.

    • When a user messages your Instagram professional account or starts a conversation via a web plug-in, a 24-hour standard messaging window opens. You can send a message to the user within this window, starting from the user's last message.

    • The user actions that open the standard messaging window are listed below.

Procedure

To send a message:

  1. Log on to the . In the left navigation pane, click Channel Management. Click the ID of an Instagram channel.image

  2. Go to the Message Sending page and configure the parameters on the right side:image

    Parameter

    Description

    Language

    Language of the message template.

    Send Message

    Click Select Template to select an approved template. Only Instagram templates in your selected language are shown.

    Send Account

    Your Instagram professional account.

    Send Type

    • Timing Send: Sends at a scheduled time.

    • Immediately: Sends as soon as you click Send.

    Import Method

    Import recipient numbers using one of the following methods.

    • Upload Excel File: Recommended for bulk sending:

      1. Click Download Template and enter the recipient numbers in the template file.

      2. Click Upload File.

    • Import Phone Number Group: Recommended for small batches. Select this option, then click Add Phone Number to enter recipient numbers.

    Note
    • Recipients must have messaged your professional account within the last 24 hours, or sending fails.

    • The Download Template button is disabled until you select a message template.

    • If the template includes a variable, use the Upload Excel File method. Do not change column headers, or variable parameters may not map correctly.

  3. Click Send.

User actions that open a standard messaging window

A standard messaging window opens when a user performs any of these actions. We recommend that you respond within 24 hours. Users can block or mute conversations at any time.

  • Sends a message to your Page or Instagram professional account

  • Clicks a call-to-action button such as Get Started in a conversation

  • Clicks a Click-to-Messenger ad and sends a message to your Page or Instagram professional account

  • Clicks an m.me link to an existing conversation with your Page

  • Clicks an ig.me link to an existing conversation with your Instagram professional account

  • Reacts to a message, such as a marketing message

  • Comments on a post on your Page or Instagram professional account

  • Publishes a visitor post on your Page
