If your Alibaba Cloud account has overdue payments, all the pay-as-you-go ApsaraDB RDS instances that belong to the account become overdue. You can unlock or rebuild overdue RDS instances within a specific period of time. Subscription RDS instances are not affected by overdue payments.

Warning Alibaba Cloud sends notifications to you before your account becomes overdue. To avoid business interruptions, we recommend that you add funds to your account at your earliest opportunity.

Overdue instance states

Instance state Operation
If your Alibaba Cloud account has overdue payments, all pay-as-you-go RDS instances that belong to the account become overdue.
  • Day 1 to 15: The instances run as normal.
  • Day 16 to 30: The instances are locked.
  • Day 31: The instances and their data are released and can no longer be restored.

Before data is deleted, add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account to settle the outstanding bills. To prevent data loss caused by accidental operations, RDS instances that are overdue cannot be manually released.
