Last Updated:Sep 07, 2023

If your Alibaba Cloud account has overdue payments, all the pay-as-you-go ApsaraDB RDS instances that belong to the account become overdue. You can unlock or rebuild overdue RDS instances within a specific period of time. Subscription RDS instances are not affected by overdue payments.

Warning

Alibaba Cloud sends notifications to you before your account becomes overdue. To avoid business interruptions, we recommend that you add funds to your account at your earliest opportunity.

Instance state

Operation

If your Alibaba Cloud account has overdue payments, all pay-as-you-go RDS instances that belong to the account become overdue.

  • Day 1 to 15: The instances run as normal.

  • Day 16 to 30: The instances are locked.

  • Day 31: The instance and its data are released and can no longer be restored.

  • If you have an overdue payment, you cannot release your RDS instance before you add sufficient funds to your Alibaba Cloud account.

Before data is deleted, add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account to settle the outstanding bills.

Important

Data that has been deleted cannot be restored.

Note

If your RDS instance is released, the backup files of the instance are retained in the following scenarios:

  • The RDS instance runs MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server, and the cross-region backup retention period has not ended. The backup files are retained until the cross-region backup retention period ends. For more information, see Use the cross-region backup feature.

  • The RDS instance runs MySQL, and you have determined to retain the backup files of the RDS instance after the RDS instance is released. For more information, see Enable the automatic backup feature.
