ApsaraDB RDS for MariaDB TX instances enter the recycle bin after they are manually released, expired, or refunded. Read-only instances are excluded and do not enter the recycle bin.
Depending on your instance's billing type and current state, the following actions are available in the recycle bin:
Billing type | Reason in recycle bin | State | Available actions |
Pay-as-you-go | Overdue payment | Locked | Settle overdue payment |
Subscription | Expired | Locked | Renew and unlock |
Subscription | Released after expiration (within 8 days of release) | Released | Rebuild from backup |
Any | Expired or overdue payment | Locked | Destroy |
Billing stops as soon as an instance enters the recycle bin.
Settle an overdue payment
If a pay-as-you-go instance is locked due to overdue payments, settle the outstanding balance on the payment method page of your Alibaba Cloud account.
If a pay-as-you-go RDS instance is locked due to an overdue payment, check the payment method of your Alibaba Cloud account.
Renew and unlock an expired instance
If a subscription instance is locked due to expiration, renew it directly in the recycle bin. The instance is restored to normal immediately after renewal.
After a subscription RDS instance expires, it is retained for a specific period before being released. Its data backups are then retained for 8 days. During this 8-day period, you can use the rebuild instance feature to restore the data to a new instance. For specific rules, see Overdue payments.
Log on to the Recycle Bin.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where the instance resides.
Find the locked instance and click Unlock.
Rebuild a released instance
After a subscription instance expires and the retention period ends, the system releases the instance. Its data backup files are kept for eight more days. During this window, use the rebuild feature to restore data from the backup files to a new RDS instance.
For details about retention periods and overdue payment policies, see Overdue payments.
Log on to the Recycle Bin.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where the instance resides.
Find the released instance and click Rebuild.
By default, a new instance with the same specifications is created in the same zone as the original. To use a different zone or instance type, select the options before confirming.
Destroy an instance
Destroying an instance permanently deletes all its data backup files. This action cannot be undone.
Instances locked due to expiration or overdue payments can be destroyed in the recycle bin.
Due to system cache delays, an instance must typically be in the recycle bin for about 10 minutes before it can be destroyed.
Log on to the Recycle Bin.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where the instance resides.
Find the instance and click Destroy.
