WUYING Workspace:Manage convenience users

This topic describes common operations on convenience users.

Prerequisites

Assign cloud computers or cloud computer pools to convenience users

Usage notes

Before you assign cloud computers or cloud computer pools, you need to take note of the following items:

Procedure

When you assign a cloud computer to a convenience user, the convenience user obtains the permissions to use the cloud computer. The following section describes how to assign cloud computers or cloud computer pools to convenience users or view the assigned cloud computers or cloud computer pools of convenience users.

Important
  • You can assign multiple cloud computers to a convenience user. The convenience user can use multiple cloud computers at the same time.

  • If a cloud computer is assigned to multiple convenience users, a convenience user cannot preempt to connect to the cloud computer when another convenience user is connecting to the cloud computer. A user can connect to the cloud computer only when the other user is disconnected from the cloud computer.

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Users & Administrators > Users & Organizations.

  3. On the User tab of the Manage User page, use one of the following methods to go to the View/Assign Cloud Computer (Pool) panel:

    • Find the convenience user to which you want to assign cloud computers and click Assign in the Assigned Cloud Computers or Assigned Cloud Computer Pools column.

    • Find the convenience user to which you want to assign cloud computers and click View/Assign Cloud Computer (Pool) in the Actions column.

  4. View the cloud computer assignment and re-assign cloud computers or cloud computer pools if necessary.

    1. Select a region from the Region drop-down list.

    2. Select an office network based on your business requirements.

      Note

      If the existing office network cannot meet your business requirements, you can click go to the office network page and create an office network.

    3. View and assign cloud computers or cloud computer pools to convenience users.

      • View assigned cloud computers or cloud computer pools

        • Click the Cloud Computer Information tab. In the Assigned Cloud Computer section, view the information about the cloud computers that are assigned to the user.

        • Click the Cloud Computer Pool Information tab and click Assigned Cloud Computer Pool to view information about the cloud computer pools that are assigned to the user.

      • Assign cloud computers to a convenience user

        Click the Cloud Computer Information tab. In the Unassigned Cloud Computer section, select the cloud computers that you want to assign to a convenience user and click Assign.

        If you want to unassign cloud computers from the user, select the cloud computers in the Assigned Cloud Computer section and click Unassign.

      • Assign cloud computer pools to a convenience user

        Click the Cloud Computer Pool Information tab. In the Assigned Cloud Computer Pool section, select the cloud computer pools that you want to assign to a convenience user and click Assign.

        If you want to unassign cloud computer pools from the convenience user, select the cloud computer pools in the Assigned Cloud Computer Pool section and click Unassign.

Important

After you assign or unassign cloud computers or cloud computer pools, wait for a while before you refresh the user list to view the updated information.

You can also assign cloud computers or cloud computer pools to convenience users on the Cloud Computers page or the Cloud Computer Pools page. For more information, see Assign cloud computers to end users or Manage authorized users.

Reset the password of a convenience user

Usage notes

If the password of a convenience user is complex or the user forgets the password, you can change or reset the password in the WUYING Workspace console. Alternatively, the end user who uses the account of the convenience user can change or reset the password on WUYING terminals.

Procedure

The following section describes how to change or reset passwords in the WUYING Workspace console.

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Users & Administrators > Users & Organizations.

  3. On the User tab of the Manage User page, use one of the following methods to change or reset passwords based on the type of convenience user:

    • User-activated users

      Note

      For user-activated convenience users, the system automatically sends new passwords to the email addresses of the users after you reset passwords.

      • Reset the password of a single convenience user

        • Find the convenience user whose password you want to reset, click the 3个点..png icon in the Actions column, and then select Reset Password. In the dialog box that appears, select a method to send the new password to the user and proceed as prompted.

        • Select the convenience user whose password you want to reset and click Reset Password in the lower part of the user list. In the dialog box that appears, select a method to send a new password and proceed as prompted.

      • Reset passwords for multiple convenience users at a time

        Select the convenience users whose passwords you want to reset and click Reset Password in the lower part of the user list. In the dialog box that appears, select a method to send new passwords and proceed as prompted.

    • Administrator-activated users

      Note

      For administrator-activated convenience users, new passwords are sent to the email address of the user administrator that you specified. End users can obtain passwords from the user administrator. If you did not specify a user administrator, you must forward the new passwords to the end users.

      Find the convenience user whose password you want to change and click Change Password in the Actions column. In the dialog box that appears, enter a new password and proceed as prompted.

Add convenience users to an organization

You can add convenience users to an organization when or after you create the users. After you add the users to the organization, you can view the organization structure.

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Users & Administrators > Users & Organizations.

  1. On the User tab of the Manage User page, use one of the following methods to add convenience users to an organization:

    • Add a single convenience user to an organization

      • Find the convenience user that you want to add to an organization, click Move in the Actions column, select the organization to which you want to add the user, and then proceed as prompted.

      • Select the convenience user that you want to add to an organization. In the lower part of the convenience user list, click Move User. Then, select an organization and proceed as prompted.

    • Add multiple convenience users to an organization

      Select the convenience users that you want to add to an organization. In the lower part of the convenience users list, click Move User. Then, select an organization and proceed as prompted.

For convenience users that are already added to an organization, you can follow the preceding steps to adjust the organization structure of the convenience users.

Grant convenience users the local administrator permissions

If you grant convenience users the local administrator permissions, end users that use the accounts of the convenience users can install applications that require administrator permissions and modify system settings. The local administrator permissions are different from those of the administrators in the WUYING Workspace console.

After you create a convenience user, the convenience user is automatically granted the local administrator permissions. In actual business scenarios, you can grant convenience users the local administrator permissions or revoke the permissions from the users based on your requirements.

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Users & Administrators > Users & Organizations.

  1. On the User tab of the Manage User page, use one of the following methods to grant convenience users the local administrator permissions:

    • Grant a single convenience user the local administrator permissions

      1. Find the convenience user to which you want to grant the local administrator permissions and click the 修改.png icon in the Local Administrator column.

      2. In the dialog box that appears, set the Local Administrator parameter to Yes to grant the convenience user the local administrator permissions, and then proceed as prompted. To revoke the permissions from the user, set the parameter to No.

    • Grant multiple convenience users the local administrator permissions at a time

      1. Select the convenience users to which you want to grant the local administrator permissions and choose More > Configure Local Administrator in the lower part of the convenience user list.

      2. In the dialog box that appears, set the Local Administrator parameter to Yes to grant the convenience users the local administrator permissions, and then proceed as prompted. To revoke the permissions from the users, set the parameter to No.

Manage convenience users by user property

Each user property consists of a key, which is also known as a property name, and multiple values. User properties are used to label convenience users. You can use properties to filter, view, and perform batch operations on users. The following section describes how to manage convenience users by user property.

Create, change, or delete a user property

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Users & Administrators > Users & Organizations.

  1. On the User tab of the Manage User page, find the Property column and click the property icon.

  1. In the Manage User Property panel, create, change, or delete properties based on your business requirements.

    • Create a property

      1. Click Add Property.

      2. In the dialog box that appears, enter the property name and property value and proceed as prompted.

        You can add up to 50 different property values to a property name. Each property value is unique.

    • Modify a property

      1. Find the property that you want to modify and click Edit in the Actions column.

      2. In the dialog box that appears, change the property name or property value based on your business requirements and proceed as prompted.

        You can change the property name. You can also add, change, or delete property values.

    • Delete a property

      Important

      If the property that you want to delete is bound to a convenience user, its property values are also deleted when you delete the property. Proceed with caution.

      Find the property that you want to delete and click Delete in the Actions column.

Bind a property to a convenience user

After you create a property, you can associate the property with convenience users. That is, you can bind property keys and property values to convenience users. On the User tab of the Manage User page, you can perform the following operations:

  • Bind up to 20 properties to each convenience user.

  • Bind only one value of a property to each convenience user.

  • Bind a property to a single convenience user

    • Find the convenience user to which you want to bind a property, click Edit in the Property column, and then follow the on-screen instructions to bind a property key and a property value.

    • Select the convenience user to which you want to bind a property. In the lower part of the convenience user list, choose More > Bind Property and bind a property key and a property value as prompted.

  • Bind properties to multiple convenience users at the same time

    Select the convenience users to which you want to bind properties. In the lower part of the page, choose More > Bind Property and proceed as prompted.

Unbind properties from convenience users

If you no longer require specific properties, you can unbind the properties from convenience users. On the User tab of the Manage User page, perform the following operations:

  • Unbind a property from a single convenience user

    • Find the convenience user from which you want to unbind a property and click Edit in the Property column. In the dialog box that appears, find the property that you no longer require and click the delete icon.

    • Select the convenience user from which you want to unbind a property. In the lower part of the page, choose More > Unbind Property. Then, find the property that you want to unbind and click the delete icon.

  • Unbind properties from multiple convenience users at the same time

    Select the convenience users from which you want to unbind properties. In the lower part of the page, choose More > Unbind Property. Then, find the properties that you want to unbind from the users and click the delete icon.

Filter convenience users by property

After you bind properties to convenience users, you can filter convenience users by property for subsequent operations.

Note

You can use multiple properties to filter convenience users. You can use multiple values of each property as filter conditions.

  1. On the User tab of the Manage User page, click Filter by Property in the upper part of the convenience user list.

  2. To configure filter conditions, select a property key and a property value based on your business requirements and click OK.

    Note
    • If you no longer require the filter conditions, click Delete.

    • If you want to configure multiple filter conditions for properties, click Add Property and proceed as prompted.

Lock or unlock convenience users

To ensure data security, you can lock or unlock convenience users.

Lock convenience users

To prevent potential data security risks, if the accounts of convenience users used by end users remain available for logon after the end users complete their tasks on cloud computers, you can lock the accounts in the WUYING Workspace console.

  • For administrator-activated convenience users, you can specify the date to lock the convenience users when or after you create them.

  • For user-activated convenience users, you can only create convenience users first, and then lock them.

Important
  • End users cannot use the accounts of locked convenience users to log on to WUYING terminals. Proceed with caution.

  • If end users enter invalid passwords of convenience users for 10 consecutive times to log on to WUYING terminals, the convenience users are automatically locked for 20 minutes. During this period, end users cannot enter any password.

  • Convenience users that are manually locked must be manually unlocked.

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Users & Administrators > Users & Organizations.

  1. On the User tab of the Manage User page, use one of the following methods to lock convenience users:

    • Lock a single convenience user

      • Find the convenience user that you want to lock, click Lock in the Actions column, and then proceed as prompted.

      • Select the convenience user that you want to lock, click Lock in the lower part of the convenience user list, and then proceed as prompted.

    • Lock multiple convenience users

      Select the convenience users that you want to lock, click Lock in the lower part of the convenience users list, and then proceed as prompted.

After a convenience user is locked, the user is in the Locked state.

Unlock convenience users

End users cannot use the accounts of convenience users that are locked to log on to WUYING terminals. To unlock the convenience users, you can go to the WUYING Workspace console to proceed.

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Users & Administrators > Users & Organizations.

  1. On the User tab of the Manage User page, use one of the following methods to unlock convenience users:

    Note

    After you unlock convenience users, you can lock them again based on your business requirements. You can specify the time to lock convenience users again when you unlock them.

    • Unlock a single convenience user

      • Find the locked convenience user that you want to unlock, click Unlock in the Actions column, and then proceed as prompted.

      • Select the locked convenience user that you want to unlock, click Unlock in the lower part of the convenience user list, and then proceed as prompted.

    • Unlock multiple convenience users

      Select the locked convenience users that you want to unlock, click Unlock in the lower part of the convenience users list, and then proceed as prompted.

      Note

      You can batch unlock convenience users that are of the same activation type.

After a convenience user is unlocked, the user is in the Normal state.

Export convenience users

WUYING Workspace allows you to export convenience users. On the User tab of the Manage User page, click Export in the upper-right corner of the page to export convenience users.

Delete convenience users

You can delete convenience users that you no longer need to release user quota.

Important

Before you delete a convenience user, make sure that the convenience user is unbound from cloud computers. You cannot delete convenience users that are assigned cloud computers.

  1. Log on to the WUYING Workspace console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Users & Administrators > Users & Organizations.

  1. On the User tab of the Manage User page, use one of the following methods to delete convenience users:

    • Delete a single convenience user

      • Find the convenience user that you want to delete, click Delete in the Actions column, and then proceed as prompted.

      • Select the convenience user that you want to delete, click Delete in the lower part of the convenience user list, and then proceed as prompted.

    • Delete multiple convenience users

      Select the convenience users that you want to delete, click Delete in the lower part of the convenience user list, and then proceed as prompted.
