Alibaba Cloud Launches Qwen Cloud for Global Markets

Alibaba Cloud launches Qwen Cloud, an AI-native platform built for AI Agents with multi-modal model access.

On May 26, Alibaba Cloud officially launched Qwen Cloud for the global market in Singapore. CTO of Alibaba Cloud and President of International Business, Dr. Li Feifei, introduced Qwen Cloud and shared his view that demand for AI continues to surge — the explosion of Agents in particular has driven exponential growth in model invocations and cloud resource consumption. When Agents become the crucial consumers of cloud services, every interface and interaction logic designed around humans needs to be rewritten. Qwen Cloud is a new way of service, born for AI Agents.

1

Born for Agents: Skills and CLI Reshape the Interaction

The primary consumer of cloud is shifting from humans to Agents. When Agents become the key users of cloud services, traditional interfaces can no longer meet the demand. Qwen Cloud introduces a three-entry-point architecture, translating platform capabilities into languages that different roles can call directly:

  • Skills (for Agents): "Being Agent-friendly is Qwen Cloud's core advantage is the core differentiator of Qwen Cloud. We have packaged complex capabilities like image generation, vision understanding, and video processing into standardized instructions (Skills Prompts) that Agents can read." said Linlin Kong, Head of Qwen Cloud. Previously, developers had to find endpoints, write API calls, test and debug, then "teach" the Agent. Now, with a single natural language instruction, the Agent can autonomously understand and directly invoke platform capabilities. No underlying code needed — the Agent learns and acts instantly.

2

  • CLI (for Workflows): A high-speed, deterministic, and reproducible command-line layer for terminals, scripts, and CI/CD pipelines. Whether for automated deployment or batch task processing, CLI ensures stable execution, freeing workflows from the volatility of graphical interfaces.
  • Website (for Humans): An exploration portal built for developers. Start for free, compare hundreds of models side by side, try them online, and get API keys with one click. From experiment to production — all within a single browser tab.

Website serves human exploration. Skills serve Agent reasoning. CLI serves workflow execution. Three doors, leading to a zero-friction platform.

One-Stop Model Access, Six Modalities Fully Covered

Qwen Cloud breaks through the traditional fragmentation of multi-platform access, delivering a true one-stop model access experience. Its Web entry point is not just a model list — it is a complete journey from free exploration, side-by-side comparison, and online testing to one-click API key retrieval, enabling developers to close the loop from experiment to production in a single tab without binding a credit card.

Most AI platforms begin and end with text, but real-world use cases go far beyond that. Qwen Cloud brings together Alibaba's full model suite alongside third-party ecosystem models, covering six modalities: text, vision, image, video, speech, and embedding.

Whether it is document analysis, screenshot understanding, voice interaction, or video summarization, developers need only one API key and one integration to accomplish all multimodal tasks on a single platform. As applications grow, the platform scales with them — no migration needed.

Predictable Cost, Transparent Billing

For enterprises, one of the biggest pain points of AI adoption is uncontrollable cost. Qwen Cloud delivers a transparent and predictable cost management solution: supporting multi-dimensional analysis by API Key ID, Workspace ID, model name, input/output type, and invocation channel. Managers can clearly see: Who is using it? Where is it used? How much was consumed? Where does the cost come from?

On the billing side, Qwen Cloud introduces the innovative Token Plan — a multimodal subscription service:

  • Predictable cost: A fixed monthly fee covering text, image, and speech capabilities, solving the budget volatility of pay-as-you-go.
  • Multi-seat for teams: Shared seats for team collaboration and unified management.
  • Flexible overage: Service continues uninterrupted even when quota is exceeded — overage automatically converts to pay-as-you-go, balancing stability and flexibility.

Additionally, the platform includes enterprise-grade features such as workspace isolation, fine-grained permission management, rate limits, API key management, and transparent billing — ensuring a smooth transition from solo development to large-scale production environments.

4

Open Ecosystem, Efficient Model Selection

Qwen Cloud maintains an open strategy. Beyond the complete Qwen model family, the platform has onboarded leading third-party models such as DeepSeek (built for high-performance reasoning), with more models continuously added. Developers can freely switch between models without changing any integration code, and intuitively compare cost and performance — truly owning their model selection.

Additionally, Qwen Cloud has extended an invitation to developers, launching a hackathon to encourage building production-grade AI Agents on the platform.

So just as Linlin Kong said,

"Three things. Right now.

One: Open qwencloud.com. Try a model. No setup. Five minutes.

Two: Give your agent the Skills prompt and the CLI. One instruction, full platform.

Three: Get an API key. It works with everything you already use.The fastest path from a powerful model to real work."

Let's ship the next with Qwen Cloud
