Last Updated:Aug 02, 2023

WUYING Workspace allows you to configure preferences, use peripherals, and change display modes for cloud computers to meet your business requirements. This topic describes the usage notes and common features of WUYING Workspace.

Usage notes

You can configure preferences, change display modes, and manage peripherals in the WUYING Workspace console to meet your business requirements. Some features of cloud computers such as screen recording audit, watermarking, and clipboard are managed by your administrator. If you want to use or modify these features, contact your administrator. The following table describes the features that are managed by your administrator when you use a cloud computer.

Feature

Description

Screen recording audit

After your administrator enables the screen recording audit feature for your cloud computer, the system automatically sends you a notification when you connect to and use the cloud computer. You are notified that your administrator has enabled the screen recording audit feature, and all your actions on the screen are recorded for auditing.

You can fold and unfold the pushed messages of screen recording on your cloud computer. You cannot disable the feature. If you have questions, contact your administrator.

Scheduled start and stop of cloud computers

Your administrator can configure scheduled tasks to start, stop, restart, or connect to your cloud computer at specified points in time.

  • Scheduled Start, Stop, Restart, and Reset: After your administrator configures one or more scheduled tasks for your cloud computer, the cloud computer is automatically started, stopped, restarted, or reset at specified points in time. You can also configure a scheduled stop task for your cloud computer when you use the cloud computer. For more information, see Configure a scheduled stop policy for a cloud computer.

  • Scheduled Task upon Inactivity: After your administrator configures a scheduled task of this type for your cloud computer, the system automatically stops, restarts, or disconnects the cloud computer after the specified period elapses and no mouse or keyboard activity is detected on the cloud computer.

  • Scheduled Task upon Disconnection: The task takes effect based on the following rules:

    • Policy Configured by User: If your administrator selects this rule, you can create a custom policy for your cloud computer. For more information, see Configure a scheduled stop policy for a cloud computer.

    • Policy Configured by Administrator: If your administrator selects this rule, the system automatically stops your cloud computer after it is disconnected for a specified period of time, and you cannot modify the saving policy on your cloud computer.

  • Start Cloud Computer After Client Logon or Hardware Client Launch: If your administrator selects this rule, the system automatically starts your cloud computer after you log on to the WUYING software client.

    Note

If you have only one cloud computer in your account and you enable the automatic connection feature for the cloud computer in Logon Settings of the WUYING software client, the cloud computer automatically starts upon your logon regardless of whether your administrator disables the Start Cloud Computer After Client Logon or Hardware Client Launch rule.

  • Stop Cloud Computer After Client Logout or Hardware Client Shutdown: If your administrator selects this rule, the system automatically stops your cloud computer after you exit the WUYING software client.

If you want to modify scheduled start tasks and stop tasks when you use your cloud computer, contact your administrator.

Watermarking

After your administrator enables the watermarking feature for your cloud computer, the watermark configured by the administrator is displayed on the screen of your cloud computer. If you want to disable the watermarking feature, contact your administrator.

Anti-screenshot

If you cannot capture the screen of your cloud computer when you use a Windows client or macOS client of Alibaba Cloud Workspace V5.2.0 or later, the possible reason is that your administrator has enabled the Anti-screenshot feature for your cloud computer. If you want to capture screens of your cloud computer, contact your administrator to disable the feature.

Local disk mapping

If your administrator disables the Local Disk Mapping feature for your cloud computer, your cloud computer cannot read or display the data of your on-premises disks. After your administrator enables the Local Disk Mapping feature, your cloud computer can obtain the Read-only or Read/Write permissions on your on-premises disks.

  • Read-only: You can only view the data stored on your on-premises disks from your cloud computer.

  • Read/Write: You can create or modify files and folders on your on-premises disks from your cloud computer.

Important
  • Only Windows clients and macOS clients support local disk mapping.

  • You cannot run your on-premises applications on your cloud computer. You can run installation-free on-premises applications on your cloud computer. However, running installation-free on-premises applications on your cloud computer occupies bandwidth and compromises user experience. We recommend that you do not run on-premises applications on your cloud computer. If you want to access your on-premises disks from your cloud computer, ask your administrator to enable the Local Disk Mapping feature for your cloud computer.

Clipboard

The Clipboard feature configured by your administrator determines whether you can copy and paste texts between your on-premises computer and your cloud computer. If you want to use the feature, contact the administrator.

Note

You can copy and paste texts, files, and images on cloud computers only by using Windows clients and macOS clients of Alibaba Cloud Workspace V6.2.0 and later.

File transfer between on-premises computers and cloud computers

This feature allows you to transfer files between on-premises computers and cloud computers.

  • Web clients: Your administrator must configure the HTML5 Client File Transfer feature for your cloud computer.

    • Allow Upload: You can upload files from your on-premises computer to your cloud computer.

    • Allow Download: You can download files from your cloud computer to your on-premises computer.

    • Allow Upload/Download: You can transfer files between your cloud computer and on-premises computer.

You can open the assistive ball on your cloud computer, click Upload or Download, and then upload files from your on-premises computer to your cloud computer or download files from your cloud computer to your on-premises computer.

  • Windows clients and macOS clients: If your administrator sets the Local Disk Mapping feature to Read/Write for your cloud computer, you can access your on-premises disks from your cloud computer to transfer files between your on-premises computer and your cloud computer.

Online storage software: You can install online storage software on your cloud computer and your on-premises computer that runs your cloud computer. Then, files can be transferred between your on-premises computer and cloud computer by using the online storage software.

Image display quality

You can set the display quality of your cloud computer. You can select quality-first based on your business requirements. For more information, see Configure graphic quality preferences. If you do not have the permissions to modify the display quality, contact your administrator.

HTML client file transfer

If you do not have the upload or download permissions when you connect to a Windows cloud computer from a web client, contact your administrator.

Redirection

If you cannot use peripherals such as webcams, printers, and USB devices that are connected to your on-premises computer after you connect to your cloud computer, go to the Peripherals page and configure the Device Redirection or USB Redirection feature. For more information, see Use peripherals on a cloud computer. If you do not have the permissions to configure the redirection features, contact your administrator to modify the configurations for printer redirection, webcam redirection, and USB redirection.

Media redirection

If this feature is enabled for your cloud computer, audio and video files can be redirected from your cloud computer to your on-premises computer for playing, which delivers better user experience. For more information, see Configure display preferences. If you do not have the permissions to enable or disable the media redirection feature, contact your administrator.

Logon method

Contact your administrator if you want to connect to your cloud computer from one of the following Alibaba Cloud Workspace clients: web clients, Windows clients, and macOS clients.

Common features

WUYING Workspace provides Windows and Linux cloud computers that use the Adaptive Streaming Protocol (ASP) and the High-definition Experience (HDX) protocol. The common features and their locations are the same between cloud computers that use the same protocol. Features of HDX-based cloud computers are displayed in a toolbar. Features of ASP-based cloud computers are displayed in an assistive ball (also known as DesktopAssistant).

The following section describes the common features of cloud computers of each protocol.

ASP-based cloud computers

The assistive ball of ASP-based cloud computers can be dragged to any position on the screen. The ball is hidden when it is close to the edge of the screen. To wake up the ball, move the cursor over the green light of the ball. Then, you can click the ball to use common features. The following table describes the common features.

Note

In the following table, a Windows client of Alibaba Cloud Workspace V6.3.1 is used as an example to describe the common features of ASP-based cloud computers. The features may vary based on the types and versions of WUYING clients. The features that are provided in actual scenarios shall prevail.
