ApsaraDB RDS:Release or unsubscribe from a DuckDB-based analytical primary instance

Last Updated:Dec 10, 2025

If you no longer need a DuckDB-based analytical primary instance, you can manually release (for pay-as-you-go instance) or unsubscribe from (for subscription instance) the instance.

Notes

  • Pay-as-you-go instances can only be released. Subscription instances can only be unsubscribed from.

  • After an instance is released or unsubscribed from, its data is retained based on the following conditions:

    • Instances in the recycle bin

The following types of instances are moved to the recycle bin, where you can unlock or rebuild them:

      • Subscription instances that are released upon expiration or are manually unsubscribed from

      • Pay-as-you-go instances that are manually released

    • Data backup retention policy

If an instance has a configured post-release backup retention policy, its data backups are not deleted when the instance is released or unsubscribed from. If the policy is set to Latest or All, you are charged a small fee for backup storage. For more information about how to delete backups, see Delete backups of a deleted instance.

      Important

Backup files retained after an instance is released cannot be used to restore data to a new instance.

    • Use cases for immediate data purging

In all other cases, the instance is immediately purged. Its data is deleted and cannot be recovered. Proceed with caution.

  • After you unsubscribe from a subscription instance, the instance enters a locked state. The instance remains visible in the console, but billing stops. The instance is permanently removed from the console only after you destroy it in the recycle bin.
