Microservices Engine:Upgrade or downgrade a cloud-native gateway

Change the specifications or node count of a Microservices Engine (MSE) cloud-native gateway to match your current workload. Scale up before traffic peaks or scale down to reduce costs during low-traffic periods.

Prerequisites

Impacts of specification changes

You can upgrade or downgrade MSE cloud-native gateways that use the subscription or pay-as-you-go billing method. Review the following impacts before you proceed:

ScenarioImpact
All gatewaysThe change takes approximately 4 to 5 minutes. You cannot perform console operations on the gateway during this time.
Multi-node gateways (two or more nodes)A rolling deployment runs automatically and data is synchronized across nodes. No service interruption occurs.
Single-node gatewaysHigh availability is not supported. Service interruptions may occur during the change.
Important

Perform specification changes during off-peak hours to minimize the risk of service disruption.

Change gateway specifications

  1. Log on to the MSE console. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Cloud-native Gateway > Gateways.

  3. On the Gateways page, find the target gateway and click More in the Actions column. Select one of the following options based on your billing method:

    Billing methodOption to select
    SubscriptionUpgrade
    Pay-as-you-goUpgrade/Downgrade
  4. On the configuration page, select the desired specifications and number of nodes. The following figures show the configuration pages for each billing method. Subscription gateway: Pay-as-you-go gateway:

  5. Click Buy Now.

  6. Return to the Gateways page. Click the gateway ID to open its Overview page and verify that the new specifications are applied.
