Data Transmission Service:Upgrade a DTS instance

Last Updated:Mar 28, 2026

When a data migration or data synchronization task can no longer meet your business requirements, upgrade its instance class in the Data Transmission Service (DTS) console.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

  • A data migration or data synchronization task (change tracking tasks do not use instance classes)

  • A task in the Running, Paused, or Failed state

Billing

The cost difference depends on your billing method.

Subscription

Upgrading charges a prorated fee for the remaining subscription period:

Task configuration fee = (Daily fee after upgrade − Daily fee before upgrade) × (Subscription expiration date − Upgrade date)

Pay-as-you-go

The task configuration fee is calculated based on the new instance class. The billing rules remain unchanged, and DTS generates a bill hourly.

For pricing details, see Billing overview.

Note

This topic provides a general introduction. The actual pages in the DTS console may differ.

  1. Log on to the DTS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Data Migration or Data Synchronization.

  3. Find the task, then click More > Upgrade.

  4. Select a new instance class, then read and select Data Transmission Service (Pay-as-you-go) Service Terms. To compare instance classes, see Instance classes of data migration instances and Instance classes of data synchronization instances. If you need to change the synchronization topology of a data synchronization task, make sure all requirements are met before proceeding. See Upgrade synchronization topology from one-way to two-way.

  5. Click Pay and follow the instructions to complete the payment.
