Last Updated:Mar 28, 2026

Reduce the class of a Data Transmission Service (DTS) data synchronization instance to lower costs after your peak workload has passed or after a workload assessment.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, confirm that:

  • The instance is a data synchronization instance in the Incremental Data Synchronization phase.

  • The instance status is Running, Paused, or Failed.

  • The current instance class is large or larger.

Usage notes

  • The minimum class you can downgrade to is medium.

Billing

Subscription

The refund amount is calculated as:

Refund = (Daily fees before downgrade − Daily fees after downgrade) × Days remaining in subscription

For details, see Rules for unsubscribing from resources.

Pay-as-you-go

After the downgrade takes effect, you are charged per hour based on the new instance class.

For details, see Billing overview.

Downgrade the instance class

  1. Log on to the DTS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Data Synchronization.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which your DTS instance resides.

  4. Find the data synchronization task, and choose More Options Icon > Downgrade in the Actions column.

  5. Select the new instance class. Read and select the Data Transmission Service (Pay-As-You-Go) Service Terms.

    Note

The actual pages in the DTS console may differ from those shown in this topic. For details about available instance classes, see Instance classes of data synchronization instances.

  6. Click Pay and complete the payment.
