Q: How is DTS billed?
DTS provides two billing methods: subscription and pay-as-you-go. For more information about billing methods, see Billing overview.
Q: How do I view DTS bills?
A: For information about how to view DTS bills, see View bills.
Q: Are fees still charged after an instance is suspended?
No fees are charged during the suspension of a migration instance.
During the period when a data synchronization instance is paused, charges continue to accrue regardless of whether the databases remain accessible. This is because, while DTS halts data writes to the destination database, it continues to consume resources—such as CPU and memory—to maintain connections and fetch logs from the source database, ensuring rapid resumption of operations once the instance is restarted.
Q: Why is data synchronization priced higher than data migration?
A: Data synchronization offers more advanced features, such as online adjustment of synchronization objects and two-way data synchronization between MySQL databases. In addition, data synchronization uses internal network transmission, which ensures lower network latency.
Q: What is the impact of an overdue account?
A: For information about the impact of an overdue account, see Expiration and overdue payments.
Q: How do I release a subscription task early?
A: For information about how to release a subscription task, see Unsubscribe from subscription instances.
First convert the subscription task to a pay-as-you-go task, and then unsubscribe. For information about how to convert, see Change the billing method.
Q: Can a subscription task be converted to pay-as-you-go?
A: Yes. For information about how to convert, see Change the billing method.
Q: Can a pay-as-you-go task be converted to a subscription task?
Data synchronization tasks and change tracking tasks can be converted. For information about how to convert, see Change the billing method.
NoteData migration tasks support only the pay-as-you-go billing method.
Q: Why did a DTS task suddenly start being charged?
A: The free period of the instance may have expired. DTS offers discounted pricing for tasks whose destination database is an Alibaba Cloud proprietary database engine: such tasks are free for a certain period, and fees start to be charged once the free period expires.
Q: Why is a released task still being charged?
A: DTS pay-as-you-go tasks are billed daily. Because DTS was used on the day the task was released, the fee for that day is still charged.
Q: How does pay-as-you-go billing work?
A: DTS pay-as-you-go billing applies only during the normal operation of incremental tasks (including periods when a Incremental Data Synchronization task is suspended, but excluding periods when a Incremental Data Migration task is suspended). For more information, see Billing methods.
Q: Does DTS charge traffic fees?
Some DTS tasks incur public network traffic fees and data traffic fees, regardless of the regions of the source and destination databases. Migration tasks whose destination database Access Method is Public IP Address incur public network traffic fees. Full data verification tasks in Full field validation by row sampling mode incur data traffic fees based on the volume of verified data. For more information, see Billable items.
Q: Does DTS support savings plans?
A: No. You can consider using a Serverless instance to reduce costs. For more information, see What is a DTS Serverless Instance.
